  1. Review titled I was supported throughout

    by casinggp84 - Posted on 29 September 2023

I self referred and was called to discuss further on what I needed help with. After discussion I was advised to wait for a trained therapist due to the complex PTSD. I was able to wait about 6/7 months before the therapy started. I had done CBT before and just expected it to be the same, however I was offered EMDR. I was advised and taught what this therapy was and was happy to give it a go and glad it was not CBT! Within the first session I already felt a difference. I felt as though my mind was able to process what happened and allow myself to not have it constantly at the forefront of my mind. My reactions, my triggers and my anxiety with each session were decreasing incredibly quickly. For the first time in a long time, I finally felt that my body and mind was no longer reacting to the PTSD. I became a lot calmer with situations and was able to not have that constant battle of logic vs worse case scenario in my mind. I felt throughout the whole process I was listened to, put first and always kept informed about my progress. There was flexibility to be able to have face-to-face appointments as well as online. This really helped with my day to day life. I understand the initial wait is not ideal for anyone, but I felt it was worth it. Therapy is not easy, and some sessions were rougher than others, but I was supported throughout. Very glad I pursued this and was ready to take on the PTSD that I now see was crippling and I am happy to say I am no longer having it rule my life.

  2. Review titled Learning to normalise my anxiety

    by anonymous81 - Posted on 19 October 2023

I had a great experience using EMDR to help control my anxiety. It helped me to process unresolved previous experiences which were influencing my current anxiety and learn to address and understand that some anxiety is normal and have strategies to move through the anxiety so that I can start to build positive experiences. I would like more long term follow up care if available.

Thank you for your feedback and sharing your experience of EMDR. It can take time to consolidate what you have learnt. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to use your new skills. If you feel that, in the future, further treatment would be helpful you are more than welcome to get back in touch with us.

  3. Review titled Walking away with a sense of achievement

    by junedz35 - Posted on 20 September 2023

I was struggling with anxiety/panic disorder. The therapy sessions really helped me to understand why this all started and helped to close out traumatic memories that had been the main cause of my panic. From the first session until my last I walked away each time with a sense of achievement and a new lease of life. Forever grateful.

  4. Review titled Not helpful at all

Rated 1 star out of 5

You must be feeling bad. You refer yourself to Wellbeing service thinking they will help. They call you and prode and probe you to reveal all your problems and deepest secrets. And then they offer you links to look into.... Nobody refers themselves to Wellbeing service for nothing. And this is what you get from them : nothing. The survey you fill in is unclear and misleading , so to get help you need to score high or be borderline suicidal. This service is missing a point, you should prevent people being suicidal by offering the help prior to people being in hopeless state. Contact with this service made me feel even worse...

This is concerning feedback. We do not want people to feel like this after contact with our service and are sorry that you feel let down. Would it be possible for you to email us on: elft-tr.bedfordiapt@nhs.net so that we can look into this in more detail and find a way forward. Thank you for this feedback - it is important to know when things haven't gone well, as well as when they have.
