My elderly mother who has dementia requires someone to look in on her daily, just to check she is ok. If she needs anything doing, such as putting the tv on the correct channel or making a cup of tea, she will ask. As my mother is unable to open/close them herself, she purposely leaves the bedroom curtains closed. Now she has told me that some of the carers have gone into the bedroom, uninvited, and pulled the curtains wide open. This has upset and confused her, causing her much distress as her dementia has left her with very little understanding or reason. This resulted in myself having to go to her home at 10:00pm to calm her down and to close her curtains. In my opinion, the carers have no right to enter her bedroom unless asked to do so. Also my mother only requires the carers Mon - Fri as her family have the weekends covered, but due to a simple misunderstanding they have been visiting all over the past wkend. When I telephoned the office to politely point out these mistakes, I felt that the person I spoke to did not really want to listen to what I had to say and they couldn't get off the phone quick enough. Very poor and disappointing service in my opinion. I would not recommend this 'service' to others.
