Review titled Caring staff, amazing place
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alison Clark - Posted on 23 February 2025
My Mother was discharged from HRI into Rossmore, she was extremely poorly and unable to weight bear. With persistence and care (and sometimes 'tough love') from the Physio's and OT, she is now, a couple of weeks later, able to walk with a frame continually for about 10 minutes, albeit slowly but this is remarkable progress. I have visited Mum daily and have witnessed all the staff treat my Mother with dignity and respect. Nothing is too much trouble. The lovely people who make her tea just the way she likes it ' 5 rain drops of milk' are truly amazing individuals. My Mother says the food is lovely and nutritious and they allow her to add her daily Flaxseed to her porridge and puddings. The flaxseed is a bit of a standing joke, say no more. I have seen her literally blossom from a very poorly lady into the bright, funny and mischievous lady who is my Mother. This is all down to the staff at Rossmore who take the time to interact with her and allow her to talk about her days as a Nurse. Her mental health due to her many chronic conditions wasn't bad as she is a very determined and resilient lady but I can honestly say, I have never seen her so happy, she has said she feels safe and secure in the fact the staff at Rossmore have her interests at the heart of all they do for my Mother. As a visitor, I cannot help but see how the staff treat other patients, which again is with respect and care as each patient has differing needs to be met. I am truly humbled by each and every one of the people I have met at Rossmore, so much so, when I have completed my resignation period (early retirement), I am going to see if there is the possibility of volunteering so I can at least try to pay a little back to this amazing place I had no idea existed down a little side street in Hull. This is where people are given the chance to get their lives back again. Thank you seem inadequate words to use. But thank you to each one of you for looking after my Mum.

I thought the building from first view was not very good. Once inside though I was very impressed with the care I received. Really helpful staff, especially one particular gentleman who I didn't catch the name of. Great idea for getting people home from hospital.

My mum was admitted from HRI Unbelievable to walk, due to the care and physio provided she has been able to get moving around and return home. I am very thankful and appreciate to all the team for there care . I found the unit very clean and meals appropriate for my mum's needs. I found communication good and staff listened to my concerns about her requirements. Many many thanks. Regards Roy
