My mother has severe dementia and lives alone. She is unable to communicate and entirely relies on others to be able to perform daily tasks. After the first meeting with Aroma Care we felt confident they would be able provide a good level of care for my mother. We were assured that all the carers on their books are fully qualified. After meeting several of them I am not sure this is true. Despite having an agreed care plan, the carers appeared to be unable to follow it. They originally promised us one dedicated carer but instead sent many different carers including male carers when we were told that wouldn't happen, There have been many issues encountered over the last 5 months - almost on a daily basis. Here are some of the main ones: Carers not arriving within the agreed 1 hour time slot (ie for a 9am slot they only guarantee to arrive any time between 8am and 10am so to not arrive within that big window is really not acceptable), after the visit they usually leave earlier than the allotted time regardless of whether tasks have been completed or not, they sometimes don't arrive at all, they put dirty washing in the tumble dryer, they didn't put the fall sensor on, they have left the bed unchanged with dirty sheets, they don't follow the instructions for how/what to prepare for lunch/dinner, they left the house unlocked once with the key in the door, the office manager often doesn't return our calls, they are very unhelpful when we do get to speak to them and have even told us things we know to be untrue, they have billed us for visits that didn't happen. Today they have phoned to say they will be withdrawing their service at the end of the week. This gives us two days to find alternative provision. I advise anyone considering using this company to look elsewhere. I have made a complaint about them to the Care Quality Commission.
