  1. Review titled Fantastic Inpatient Experience under the Respiratory Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2024

I have recently had a 2 week admission to the Respiratory Ward. The medical team, the nurses and the care staff were fantastic. I work in the NHS myself and I am aware how stretched the services are at present. Communication was excellent, and I was always given detailed explanations, time to ask questions and I never felt rushed. When I needed urgent medical attention it was quick and effective. Though I waited a long time in A/E the care I received there was also good. I would like to thank all Whittington Hospital staff for providing great patient care at what are challenging times in the NHS.

From 1st booking in to been encouraged to drink the preperation been escorted to change into my gown. Cannot praise them enough. I left feel comfortable mainly because of how I was treated.

  3. Review titled Efficient imaging department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was very impressed with my experience at the Whittington imaging department last week. The hospital was clean, the staff were welcoming. I was seen within minutes of my booked appointment time slot. The radiologist was really helpful and thorough and explained the findings of my scan to me. It was good to see they were training doctors which is obviously important in a teaching hospital. I received the results within 24hours. I couldn’t have got a better service if I had paid to go privately. I feel lucky to have such a great local hospital.

  4. Review titled Sad and frustated

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Daniela - Posted on 25 February 2023

I have always gone to another hospital for emergencies but had heard Whittington was great, and closer to my house. I wish I hadn’t gone. I came in suspecting I had bronchitis for the second time as I couldn’t breathe properly and even in triage nothing was right. The nurse (male) wouldn’t let me speak and didn’t want to know what medicines I took (note that I’m diabetic). Later I was called for an Electrocardiogram and the nurse who was going to perform it was eating and talking to his colleagues, all with the curtains open. Then, he asked if I wanted to put on a hospital gown, but when I said no, he noticed I wasn’t wearing a bra and made me put on one anyways (I like to think they have seen patients naked before?). But the last drop was when he was about to do a blood test. I have constant blood tests as a diabetic person and told him my good arm is usually the left one as my veins (and my whole family’s) are hard to find. He ignored me and said it varies from who’s doing the test and went on to put the elastic band on my right arm (without even looking at the other one). He left the room (while having me with the band and my arm swelling, still talking to his colleagues) to get a needle, and when I asked him to please let me know when poking he laughed and asked if that’s not how they did it in other places. Finally, he pinched me and, surprise, no blood was coming out, as it always happens on my right arm. Then instead of taking the needle off he started moving it around and poking it in and out until I started having an anxiety attack and asked him to remove it as it was obviously not working. After that he left and someone came to listen to my chest and I tried to tell them I had used a bronchodilator before coming but he said it didn’t make a difference. Meaning, I left the hospital worse than I came in, with a bruise on my arm and terrible anxiety.

  6. Review titled Poor Concern About Patients

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2022

I was here in the Whittington Hospital Adults Emergency for a relative while waiting I saw a few incidents were the staffs really looked careless, a patient had fainted the nurses came looked had smirk doctors passed randomly the people didn't handle them right this looks really concerning. I get the fact that they are used to seeing patients in any extent of pain but it is not helpful or comforting if people laugh at you being in pain or helpless especially in the hospital since we came here for help. This was making me worried so wanted to let you know. Thank for your time.

  7. Review titled A circus

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 October 2022

I attended a&e with my boyfriend whom wasn’t feeling well. The whole place is a circus…. No one knows what their doing, they tell you one thing and someone tells you something else. Poor disgusting attitude of most of the staff, dirty and unclean waiting areas. Waited 11 hours to see a doctor!!! Blood in the waiting area, I asked one of the nurses to get someone to clean the blood up three times and she ignored me and didn’t get anyone to clean the blood up. Poor poor attitude. There was one nurse that was amazing and is a credit to your hospital. If only everyone could have the same work ethic and people skills this one nurse showed. Disgusting will never ever return to this hospital with my loved ones ever somewhere you would go to die not to be helped.

  8. Review titled Immense Gratitude

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2023

On September 27th we brought our adult son to A&E, with acute abdominal pain. Within 5 hours he was in Theatre. Since this time he has been treated on 3 Wards and by numerous medical professionals. He has Stage 4 bowel cancer. This was a complete shock for our whole Family. We just cannot praise each and every member of the Hospital Staff enough. The care, support and kindness we have experienced and witnessed has made such a difference. The Doctors have all been superb. The Nurses and other medical professionals work extremely hard. The Wards were kept very clean. We are so very grateful to everyone. Thank you. Words cannot express our appreciation.
