  1. Review titled How not to make an appointment!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had a telephone consultation with my GP today (27th June). I recommended a get a chest X ray and sent me a text at 1458hrs advising me to ring 0191-404-1080. Over the next 30 minutes, I tried ringing this number to no avail. It just rang and rang. It did not go to voicemail. I went on the website and it confirmed that the number was correct. I rang the general number, which advised me to choose 'option 1' to make an 'X-ray' appointment. The voicemail advised me 'Please continue to hold, you are currently number 1 in the queue'. After 13 minutes I video'd this message. I hung up after 15m and tried again, but had the same response. Clearly, something is wrong with your current system. Can you make the necessary amendments (e.g. your website, GP surgeries) and please let me know how I can get an X-ray asap?

Hello, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you had problems with our phone line. Sometimes our phone lines can be busier at peak times during the day and this can be due to demand on our services. We currently have no reported problems with our phone lines. We hope you have been able to book your x ray appointment. If not you can call South Tyneside District Hospital 0191 404 1000 and choose option one. Alternatively please return to your G.P who will be able to support with this. Kind Regards.
