  1. Review titled Fantastic Maternity Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mary Allen - Posted on 10 March 2024

I had an early labour at 34 weeks. The delivery suite team, hazel ward and the neonatal unit are all absolutely fantastic. The amount of selfless efforts made by everyone has been overwhelmingly phenomenal and I cannot believe there are this many caring individuals in one hospital! A huge thank you to everyone involved especially the two midwives who supported our journey on the delivery suite. You are wonderful ladies and I cannot be more grateful for your care towards me and introducing my little person into the world.

  2. Review titled Ultrasound today

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Today I had an ultrasound at Great Western Hospital. I was a little early but was happy to sit and wait. I was called in early. The sonographer introduced themselves and was very polite and kind. They tilted the screen so i could see what they were looking at. They were so kind and really made me at ease. Such a good experience. Thank you

  3. Review titled Neptune Ward and Resus

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Jackie - Posted on 05 June 2023

The staff on both wards looked after my brother when he was very ill. The Dr on resus was so kind and caring and explained everything thoroughly. We were relieved that we were able to leave him in his care when we had to go home. When my brother’s final hours came, the staff on Neptune were excellent, they made sure they gave us the time and privacy we needed but were immediately on hand if we needed them. They were so considerate and helpful and supported all my family. The family area we were taken to immediately after he passed was quiet and private and we had help and support for as long as we needed. We were also provided a guidance pack which was very helpful. The staff did a wonderful job at a very difficult time and we are extremely grateful. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Outstanding ophthalmology department at GWH

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Dignum - Posted on 01 May 2023

The excellent care I received from the GWH rheumatology department had led me to expect a similar experience on attending the eye clinic, however the actual experience surpassed my expectations. I entered at 9am, and by 11.25 I was leaving. During this time, I had 6 professional examinations, each of which took an average of 10-15 minutes, and maximum waiting time in only one instance was 15 minutes. The whole experience was one of swift professionalism, which reassured me that I was receiving excellent care.

  5. Review titled Could’ve been disastrous

Rated 4 stars out of 5

The time was ticking to treat my son in time before his appendix ruptured. Struggled to find him a bed, miscommunication between doctors and sonography, and again between surgeons and nurses regarding paperwork and important post op prescriptions. It’s apparent that in addition to staff being stretched to the limits, processes and systems across the NHS are complicated and flawed. It is also apparent and reassuring to know that frontline medical staff, nurses and volunteers really do care and their services are exemplary.

  6. Review titled Caring and dignified

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by On behalf of Nat - Posted on 09 October 2022

My daughter who is physically disabled attended Beech Ward for day surgery. The ward was unprepared (not their fault) for her admission but sprang into action immediately ensuring the equipment needed to support her was in place and that she was handled in a caring and dignified manner. We were both very worried about her going into gwh but we need not have feared. All the staff involved in her care from admitting her , using the hoist, and caring for her needs were terrific and I would like this message to reach those concerned. A very big thank you.

  7. Review titled Check-up review excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by David D - Posted on 30 September 2022

On entering the GWH hospital for a check-up, I was somewhat apprehensive if this visit would be as efficient as my last. Yes - rheumatology department welcomed me and after a 3 minute wait I was called forward. As before, my consultant was outstanding. We had a reassuring advisory discussion followed by fluid removed from my knee, steroid injection, prescription and a blood test appointment. All arranged in about 30 minutes. Then a swift and painless blood test by a professional phlebotomist. After 45 minutes I left the GWH impressed as before with the professionalism and care shown by all the staff.

  9. Review titled Excellent Rheumatology Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by David D - Posted on 16 August 2022

I would like to express my deep appreciation, and admiration, for the truly professional and caring manner with which I was treated, and the harmonious, inter-departmental efficiency I experienced. My day went like this; I entered the Hospital at 09.15 am and left at 11.15 am. In this time, I was carefully and thoroughly by a brilliant Rheumatology Specialist, who found the time to also drain a considerable amount of fluid from my knee, and thus removed the intense pain I had suffered in that area for over a year, and arrange a blood test, X-rays and prescription. My blood samples were drawn by a delightful phlebotomist, who had no difficulty whatsoever in locating a vein, despite wearing rubber gloves, and I truly felt nothing. Next, X-rays, again a welcoming reception, and very careful handling of my painful joints. Lastly, I collected my Prescription. All done in 2 hours, and everything so clean and welcoming!! Thank you all - truly excellent.

  10. Review titled Dreadful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to A&E at 02:30am on arrival was told by an ambulance paramedic that there would be a long wait as there were six ambulances with patients on board still waiting to be seen since 10pm so I returned home, what is happening with our NHS
