    My sister has been unwell for a longstanding period of time and has recently allowed for engagement from the crisis and eip team. I cannot commend the two services enough for the difference that has been made in my sisters life every single staff member has offered high quality and professional care to my sister the improvement we as a family can see is phenomenal and it is all down to the incredible nursing staff and of course the lovely German doctor! I cannot thank the wonderful staff enough for your ongoing support!

    Me cpn left without notifying me,had a review meeting and was transfering me to my gp without any reason,the counciller said the service is changing no cpns wil be going out in community and my new cpn would be my gp,i thought it was a medicatione review she asked how i was feeling and felt i was going to harm meself but she said i was fine,contacted parkside for me subscriptione as gp not received email and was told staff were leaving the service as too many clients and work load so transfering patients to they gp

    I am sorry to hear of your experience of the mental health service provided through Parkside Middlesbrough. Firstly, I would like to explain, there has been on-going changes (Community Transformation) to the community mental health services over the past 12 months these changes have been Trust wide. The changes are intended to ensure closer working links with other organisations and the services these organisations provide. In working closer, it is hoped that individuals referred into services will be screened in a timelier manner and the individuals needs identified. With these changes it is hoped that this will reduce mental health services spending time on none related mental health issues and enable them to focus on the patients with complex mental health need and ensure quality mental health care. I am sorry you have experienced a service that has fallen below our expected standards. In an ever-changing workforce staff do move roles, they apply for other jobs and leave their current positions. In these circumstances it is best practice that an individual would be informed that their CPN was leaving and that they were being re-allocated to another CPN. A joint appointment would be arranged where the existing CPN and the newly allocated CPN would meet with the patient and inform them of the change of care coordinator/ lead professional. This meeting would then provide the forum for the patient to ask questions and provide any information to their new CPN. When a patient is discharged from the community mental health service, this should not be a surprise, it should be discussed, a plan should be agreed, the patient and their CPN should work together toward the discharge point. At the point of discharge, a letter should be written in a timely manner to the patients GP outlining the care the patient has received, what medication the patient is on with a request for the GP to commence prescribing the medication. The letter should include any recommendations for the patient and also the route for re-referral should the GP have any concerns in the future. Again, in this outlined situation this does not appear to have occurred and has fallen below our expected standards, for which we apologise.

    I was previously under the service 2 years ago and was abruptly discharged without any notice. I was incredibly unwell, and almost died a couple of times. I was told by my then CPN to go away and come back when I feel better, not sure why I would need them when I’m better. My mental health went on to get worse and I was left under the care of my GP, who essentially became my new CPN with weekly contact. My GP did an amazing job, but it wasn’t fair on them at all. My GP managed to get Parkside, Middlesbrough, to take me back on again. My CPN came to visit me in hospital to meet me, which I was really overwhelmed by in a positive way, that they came to meet me and introduce themself to me and inform me they would start working with me the following Monday. When you’re in hospital in the worst state, to have my new CPN come to meet me gave me that hope I needed. My CPN probably doesn’t realise what a big deal it is, but already compared to my previous experience with my last CPN it was just already above and beyond anything they ever gave me. I’ve worked with my CPN for over a year now. I’m still pretty unwell right now, but I’m moving forward when I didn’t think I could. They have arranged therapy for me. I worked with the most amazing CAT therapist in Parkside too, doing genuine life changing work. I cannot speak highly enough of them and they will stay with me forever for the things they've taught me. I’m so grateful to them, but also grateful that my CPN arranged this for me. My CPN has always been transparent with me about everything. It was hard to learn to trust someone new after my last terrible experience with my previous CPN, who I feel did everything behind my back and wouldn’t give me a straight answer. But my current care coordinator has always been honest. And they really care too. My own self esteem and how I feel about myself says why would anyone care about someone like me?? It must be frustrating to work with someone like this, but they've always been so great with me. They have worked so well in partnership with my GP. Between both of them they have never left me without care during my most vulnerable moments. There are many stories about the bad. I’ve had really bad experiences within the trust. But when you strike gold with a good care team, it’s important for them to be celebrated. I still have a long way to go with my recovery, but at least I can see that recover is possible. Any bad experience at Parkside is in the past for me thanks to my current team. There are so many changes in the works with CMHT Mbro, I just hope that it doesn’t take a step backwards. Only time will tell. But for now, thank you to my team and for all you have done for me.

  4. Review titled Oak ward angels.

    Spent 12wks on the ward. Every single member of that ward team earned my respect and admiration. Their devotion to the job was exemplary. They made time to talk when I needed to. Left me alone, though regularly checking, through the door window or opening the door and making sure I was ok, when I wanted me time. Nothing was too much for them. With their help I am now on the road to recovery. I cannot talk highly enough of this amazing team. An excellent training ward for the young nursing staff to learn how a ward should be run and patients treated.

    Just a quick note to give a mention to the hard working guys and gals on the teams mentioned. Had a voluntary in patient admission due to really bad psychological struggles, the nursing team were outstanding, on the initial formulation meeting, found the consultant very offensive and judgemental which pushed my anxiety, emotions to a higher level. Because of this, I made the call to self discharge because I wasn't prepared to face that kind of confrontation. I have emailed pals, their response has been quick and I hope this issue will be resolved in due time. Its a shame that 1 individual can destroy what faith you have in a service that you have placed your trust in to help support your mental health needs. I will be following with great interest to.see what actions are taken to resolve the issues that I have raised. On a plus note, thank you for the care and support that I have received from the crisis and CMHT, and in patient staff on Elm Ward. Keep up the good work.

    Lack of knowledge regarding how Depression can impact on one's cognitive abilities. Also very judgmental and expectations that you're able to pull yourself together. Never received a care plan or a discharge plan. Basically random telephone contacts. No monitoring of medication. Told they are a treatment service who can't provide psychological therapies. Discharged and told to contact talking changes who have referred me back to the service who gave me no support in the first place. Crisis team told me "I'm not going to tell you how to suck eggs". As a former qualified senior mental health nurse. I'm not sure TEWV actually understand how a chronic depressive episode can effect a person regardless of profession. The records on the clinical system called "Paris" don't have any representation to what was actually provided. My phone records confirm that missed calls were ficticious and recorded content of random five minutes of contact were pointless.

    I was with the york CMHT until moving to tadcaster last year they were great and supported me, I’m now with the selby CMHT I find them really unhelpful They never get back to you when they say I’ve been waiting for a medication review since last November as my current medication is not helping my diagnosis I’ve phoned on numerous times to speak the the duty worker as I get horrendous suicidal thoughts they just don’t call you back I’m supposed to be getting a letter to see the psychiatrist but it never arrived So really not helpful this team

    I am sorry to read that you have had a difficult experience with the South CMHT. I have fed back these concerns to our team, with a view to working out what has happened and why, and to avoid any further such incidents. If you would like to discuss these concerns in more detail, you would be welcome to call at Worsley Court and ask for a call back from a member of the leadership team. If you are still awaiting a medication review, I would be happy to speak with our consultant psychiatrist with a view to getting this booked.

    My daughter has complex and long-standing mental health problems. She was transferred from her home mental health trust to TEWV when she started university in the area. I’m absolutely shocked and appalled at the terrible standard of care she has had. All the recommendations from the consultant psychiatrist who had cared for her for several years at the previous trust have been ignored and she was told she has to start the whole process again with a 6- to 8-week assessment. She was told she would see her care coordinator every week but the nurse went awol for months after the first appointment. This process occurred on repeat so the assessment ended up taking 9 months. We had little trust in the outcome as the nurse overruled all the conclusions of the consultant who had previously treated her for 2 years. She got zero support or therapy during those 9 months but was relieved to be told that she would be referred for psychotherapy. We then had to chase that for 3 months only to then find out the referral was refused. We’re now trying to find out the reasons for that and to get an update on the plan to help her as she finds each day agonisingly difficult to get through and is at high risk of self-harm or worse. I constantly call her cmht to chase things - I’ve lost count of how many times in the last year but it’s well over a hundred. They always say someone will call me back but nobody ever does - it’s like Groundhog Day. Shocking level of care for a highly vulnerable patient

    After waiting over 40 minutes on hold I was told that they would ring back in a couple of hours. My client wasn't able to take the call back at that time due to circumstances out of his control therefore offered to take a call in the morning when it was safe for him to talk. Was told they don't offer a call back service the next day & was told that he could call them. My client found the whole experience of been on hold for over 40 minutes traumatic especially after plucking up the courage to call in the first place. Staff have absolutely no emathy whatsoever. This service carries a bad reputation & this confirms how accurate the previous reviews are.
