  2. Review titled Good practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Jacqueline T - Posted on 15 February 2024

I had a total knee replacement at Captain Sir Tom Moore Unit and although extremely painful, my experience of the unit was not. All the staff were wonderful; care assistants, nurses, theatre staff, physios and surgeons. The information about the procedure was given in a booklet beforehand and was clear and easy to understand. This unit shows our healthcare system at its best- compassionate, caring and communicative. The staff visibly enjoy their work, with nothing too much trouble. Two young student nurses have a good start to their careers on this unit.

  3. Review titled Lack of information

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 July 2023

My daughter is type 1 diabetic and is autistic. She had no information about timings apart from being advised to arrive at 07:30. This is not helpful for someone who has food sensory issues and isn’t given any information about meal times or what might be offered - she’s have taken something if she’d had that. She had brought very little to do as she assumed that the small procedure wouldn’t take too long. It doesn’t actually take place until 10 and a half hours later causing an enormous amount of stress due to the ‘not knowing’ I have been waiting to bring her home since this morning and it’s now 18:47 and she’s just informed me that she’s managed to get dressed with one hand and is almost ready to leave. What an unbelievable situation which could be so easily avoided with some knowledge of timings and what she might have been able to benefit from bringing with her. There’s no need for the secrecy really, transparency and honesty is always more helpful. I was thoroughly disappointed and will now try and manage the aftermath. Autism and diabetes should be well understood in a hospital of all Places.

I went for a scan at the Tom moore building and could not fault the service from start to finish. From the reception staff, the male nurse who put the canulla in and the radiologist, ( sorry I didnt get her name)they all put my mind at ease and was really friendly, they explained everything theyv were doing and no waiting about. Unlike Warrington hospital. Well done

  5. Review titled Breast Clinic Mammogram

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023

Positive: Polite and friendly staff who explained each step. Hospital is modern and fresh. Negative: Although it is understandable that it’s a breast screening clinic, patient dignity wasn’t maintained by providing an open front gown to transition from 1 room to another. I had to stand in the middle of the room covering my bare breasts with my hands whilst she asked me check list questions, before asking me to step over to the machine.

  6. Review titled Felt like a guest in a Hotel

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John A. Hutchinson - Posted on 19 February 2023

May I take this opportunity to thank all the team at the Captain Sir Tom Moore unit for the pre op, inpatient and post op care I have received during my recent Total Knee Replacement operation. I could not have been looked after better anywhere else. I can’t name anyone specifically but from the ward cleaner, Porter, the Care Assistant’s all the Nurses, Physios and Medical teams everyone was so professional, caring and friendly. I felt like they cared that I should recover as soon as possible and that it was their job to see I did. The place was spotless, the food was good what more can I say. I wish you and all the staff at the Centre my best wishes for your continued success in the future and in the care you provide for all your patients. Once again thank you very much for my new knee and my continued mobility.

  7. Review titled Cancelled again

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Victoria Thomson - Posted on 22 July 2022

My husband's operation has just been cancelled for the fifth (fifth!) time by this hospital. How can they keep doing this to people? Do they not understand how terrible it is for the patient to continually have this done to them? This is all despite being assured he was 'top of the list' after complaining about the fourth (fourth!) cancellation. Awful. Just awful.

  9. Review titled Amazing radiology dept

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 June 2022

I came in today for several x-rays and was beyond anxious.I’m on medication for anxiety and depression and had lost my nerve and cancelled once.On arriving the receptionist was lovely and listened.I literally waited 5 minutes and was called in to the room. The lady who called me and did my x-rays was quite honestly the nicest person I have ever met in any NHS dept/hospital she was amazing.Completely calmed me down, talked through everything before it happened and allowed my daughter to come with me. I am aware there are a lot of amazing staff especially at this hospital but this lady was above that by a very long way.I’m not sure if you can name people on here but I would love someone at the hospital to let her know how her behaviour can literally change someone’s life in a positive way.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited the breast clinic yesterday night and had to have a scan and some samples taken, I can’t thank the nurse in the room enough for comforting me when I got upset, didn’t catch her name but I can’t explain enough how fantastic she is at her job and how much better she made a scary experience for me :-)
