Who can use sodium cromoglicate eye drops

Most adults and children can use sodium cromoglicate eye drops.

If you buy sodium cromoglicate eye drops from a shop or supermarket, rather than a pharmacy, do not use them on children younger than 6 years.

Who may not be able to use sodium cromoglicate eye drops

Sodium cromoglicate eye drops are not suitable for everyone. To make sure they're safe for you, tell your doctor if you:

  • have ever had an allergic reaction to sodium cromoglicate eye drops, capsules or nasal spray, or any other medicine
  • have dry eye syndrome (when your eyes do not produce enough tears)
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding – only use medicines prescribed by a doctor at these times
