Taking betamethasone tablets with other medicines and herbal supplements

Cautions with other medicines

There are many medicines that affect the way betamethasone tablets work, or that increase the risk of side effects.

It's important to speak to a doctor or pharmacist to check a medicine is safe to take with betamethasone before you start taking it.

This includes some medicines that you buy without a prescription, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin for pain and ibuprofen.

Mixing betamethasone with herbal remedies and supplements

There's not enough information to say that complementary medicines, supplements and herbal remedies are safe to take with betamethasone. They're not tested in the same way as pharmacy and prescription medicines. They're generally not tested for the effect they have on other medicines.

Important: Medicine safety

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you're taking any other medicines, including herbal remedies, vitamins or supplements.
