If you live in England, you can use this service to find a monkeypox vaccination site.

Monkeypox is caused by a similar virus to smallpox. The smallpox (MVA) vaccine should give a good level of protection against monkeypox.

The NHS is offering smallpox vaccination to people who are most likely to be exposed to monkeypox.

Who can get monkeypox vaccination at a vaccination site

Vaccination sites are offering smallpox vaccination to:

  • men who are gay, bisexual or have sex with other men, and who have multiple partners, participate in group sex or attend sex-on-premises venues
  • staff who work at sex-on-premises venues

You do not need to be registered with a GP to get vaccinated at a monkeypox vaccination site.

The NHS is prioritising 1st doses. Your local NHS services will contact you when you can get your 2nd dose.
