Apply to manage someone's GP services for them, or get help managing yours

Use this service if you want to either:

  • request access to the GP services of another adult's GP services to help them
  • give someone access to some or all of your GP services so they can help you

This is sometimes called having proxy access.

What are GP services?

GP services include things like booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions and viewing your medical record. You can access these services online through the NHS App or by logging in to the NHS website.

You can also give or request access to contact the surgery or speak to surgery staff.

You can choose the level of access you'd like to give or request.

You'll need to use your NHS login. If you do not have one yet, you can set one up as part of your application.

What is NHS login?

NHS login allows you to securely access health websites and apps with just 1 username and password. You already have an NHS login if you use the NHS App or log in to the NHS website.

What happens next

After you apply, we'll send your application to your GP surgery.

We'll send a text and an email to the person you name in your application, if they have these contact details on their NHS record.

Your GP surgery may speak to you both about the application. They'll let you know if the access has been set up and when this is done.

Contact the GP surgery if you have any questions about your application, after you've submitted it.

If you cannot use this service

If you are not able to use this service, ask your GP surgery if you can set up proxy access another way.
