New look BBR opens for 2016

Launch of new-look BBR raises more than £1,000 for The Courtyard!30 March 2016

On Wednesday 23rd March, BBR Optometry unveiled its new look to local businesses – and raised over £1,000 for the city’s premier arts venue!

BBR has been undergoing a major refurbishment for the past nine weeks, which has seen it extend the practice and set up a dedicated Dry Eye Assessment Room, as well as becoming just one of 12 optometry practices in the country to own a DNEye scanner. This state-of-the-art machine takes a digital footprint of the eye to ensure the best possible sight is achieved.

To showcase the new look a special evening was held at BBR, where guests were also invited to bid for a variety of lots at an auction – with all proceeds going to the Courtyard Centre for the Arts.

Nick Rumney, chairman of BBR, said: “We have been members of the Courtyard’s Business Club for some years and knowing about their big loss of funding, we thought our launch event would offer them an opportunity to raise much-needed funds.

“Other Business Club members supported the auction by donating lots which ranged from tickets to see The Mousetrap to a jeroboam of Chase Distillery whisky. The generosity of businesses who gave the auction lots as well as those who bid for them is also much appreciated.

“I would like to thank everyone who came along to see our new-look practice and, from the comments received on the evening, I am sure they are all as pleased with it as we are. The refit ensures we continue to offer some of the best facilities in the country for our patients and will remain at the forefront of advances being made in eye care,” he added.

Melanie Denning, Fundraising Manager for the Courtyard, said: “Thanks to Courtyard Business Club members BBR for giving us the opportunity to run a charity auction at their re-launch party. This has raised £1,140 for our community arts programme which is accessed by thousands of Herefordshire residents of all ages annually. We simply couldn’t deliver this vital work without additional support.”

Nick added: “I would like to remind everyone that we are holding an open day on April 21st, from 8am to 8pm, and anyone is welcome to come along and see our new look. We also will be offering a rare chance to see the entire range of exclusive Rodenstock frames - with a 25% discount for anyone who buys a pair on the day - and there will be special guests, competitions and free gifts as well so we hope to see you there,” he added.
