First Community Health and Care deliver front-line NHS services, providing first-rate care, through our first-rate people, offering first-rate value to our local community.
First Community is part of the NHS family and provides community healthcare services in East Surrey and the surrounding area. We offer a friendly face with highly-rated, well run services, delivered by our skilled people. We provide high-quality nursing and therapy teams, specialist care teams, children and family advice and support as well as a Rehabilitation Ward, Rapid Assessment Clinic and Minor Injury Unit at Caterham Dene Hospital.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and, as such, any surplus we make is used to reinvest into our community services. We play a vital role in our local health community which we believe is essential to ensure local people have good, prompt access and first-rate care.
We have a Minor Injury Unit for people aged 18 years or over with minor injuries that cannot be managed by your GP or practice nurse.
This is a convenient alternative to A&E departments further afield and provides treatment for:
- Cuts and grazes
- Sprains and strains
- Broken bones (fractures)
- Bites and stings
- Infected wounds
- Eye problems, such as infections or scratches
- Sports injuries
- Minor burns and scalds
Please do not attend if you are suffering from:
- Abdominal pain
- Chest pain
- PR or PV bleed
- Headaches
The Minor Injury Unit is currently unable to treat children under the age of 18 years. If you think your condition is life-threatening, you should dial 999 or go to your nearest A&E.
There is a Minor Injury Unit X-ray facility at Caterham Dene Hospital, Monday to Friday 09.00-17.00 and from 10.00am - 17.00pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.
