Overview

Portesham Surgery photo

We are a rural practice serving the villages in West Dorset along the coast from Burton Bradstock to Portesham, north to Winterbourne Abbas and through the Bride Valley from Littlebredy to Puncknowle and Swyre.  Our aim is to provide our patients with caring and professional healthcare in a friendly and supportive environment.  Above all we always remember that our patients come first.

Our three GPs have special interests including minor surgery, joint injections, paediatrics, dermatology and mental health.  Our nursing team offers the full range of nursing services including woundcare, childhood immunisations, travel immunisations and advice, healthchecks, ear syringing, and one-to-one smokestop tutoring.

We have an in-house Dispensary with experienced dispensers and a Pharmacy Technician.  We host clinics run by specialist nurses and healthcare professionals such as the phsyiotherapist, midwife, chiropodist, diabetic nurse, dietician, counsellor and health visitor.

Please also see our own website www.porteshamsurgery.co.uk for further information and advice.

Out of hours

In an emergency telephone 999 for an ambulance, or 111 for less urgent assistance - this is the new NHS number which will guide you towards the help you need, whether it is from an out of hours doctor, telephone advice, emergency dental care, or your nearest Minor Injuries Unit or 24-hour pharmacy.

You can look on our website www.porteshamsurgery to download a leaflet of other useful local healthcare numbers.

Remember that we can treat minor injuries in the Surgery (such as dressing and stitching minor wounds, treating minor burns, assessing soft tissue injuries) so if it is close to our opening hours, why not give us a ring instead and see if you can save yourself a trip to A&E?
