About

SWEDA is a regional charity supporting those affected by eating disorders. This includes those directly affected by eating disorders, as well as their friends, family and close contacts.

For over 30 years, SWEDA has provided a range of support and therapeutic services for people experiencing an eating disorder or disordered eating. We also provide support to family and friends, supporting someone with an eating disorder or disordered eating.

SWEDA is dedicated to providing pro-recovery support, seeking to enable and empower people to improve their mental and physical health, as well as their wider wellbeing. The aim is to help enrich the quality of people's lives and allow them to live a life that is as healthy and full as possible. To facilitate this, SWEDA provides a range of services, offering information, support, guidance and professional training.

SWEDA is user-influenced and based on the principles of self-help. At the heart of the organisation is a commitment to ensure that people who have lived experience of eating disorders are actively encouraged to contribute to the development and delivery of our services.
