About
Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE):
We work to influence change, to elevate the voices of underrepresented and underinvested communities and to challenge racism and prejudice. We act as a critical friend to public bodies and mainstream service provision whilst campaigning on race equality and social justice issues. Our 2019—2024 strategy, Towards A Fairer Suffolk, challenges everyone to play their part and aims to extract commitments from our public and private sectors.
Under the umbrella of Community Voice, we work with local communities, voluntary sector groups, local businesses, public and private sector bodies to support under-represented voices in local, regional, and national discussions and decision making. We run Suffolk Solidarity, an ISCRE-led community initiative set up in response to the rise in hate crime during the Brexit referendum, and more recently, to Covid-19, given the disproportionate impact on communities of colour.
ISCRE’s purpose is to embed human rights and equality values in the hearts and minds of organisations and individuals primarily in Suffolk.
