About

Somerset Libraries provides a Home Library Service, available to anyone who is unable to visit their local library. This includes people who may be housebound, living in long term care, carers, or people who are vulnerable due to long term conditions or disabilities. The service is open to people of all ages.

With the Home Library Service you can borrow books, large print books and audiobooks. We also offer an iPad lending scheme which allows you to borrow an iPad for up to 6 weeks. The iPads come preloaded with data and have lots of useful apps already downloaded.

As a Home Library Service customer you will also have access to our wide range of online services including:

- e-books

- e-audiobooks

- e-magazines

- e-comics

- e-newspapers.

When you contact us, we will arrange an initial visit with you where we will discuss what you like reading, what format you would like the books in and answer any questions you may have about the service. We will then match you up with one of our registered volunteers who will contact you to arrange to visit and deliver some books to you.
