Service details

Camden Health Improvement Practice is a multi-disciplinary team providing primary health care to homeless people and those with substance misuse issues in Camden.

We provide walk-in sessions at Camden Health Improvement Practice (which is in the basement of the Margarete Centre). We may ask you to return later if we are very busy and your health problem is not an emergency or urgent. Please be aware that because of the nature of drop-in services, there may also be a lengthy wait to be seen during busy periods.

We have a strict prescribing policy to which all doctors and nurses adhere. Please ask the medical team for more information.

Opening times

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Catchment area

Residents of Camden or Islington who are homeless or in insecure accommodation, with significant alcohol, drugs or mental health issues.

Referral method

Clients must first register with CHIP at any of the drop-in general medical clinics. Access to opiate services is by drop-in clinic at Spectrum Centre on Tuesday and Friday 9.30 am to 11.30am. At the first point of contact suitability for treatment is assessed in the primary care setting and urine tests are taken. An appointment is then made for a full assessment with the client.
