  1. Review titled I am a different person because of you and your ways

    by foxtrothb53 - Posted on 08 August 2023

I’d like to share my feedback about the Frailty team in Lymington in Hampshire, they have been coming to see me and have now stopped. I was told they would visit me by a doctor and there is a doctor amongst them, and most of them are well experienced doctors or nurses, they came to see me everyday in my home and they basically tell you what you should be doing or shouldn’t be doing. They came to visit me in my home every day and took my vital statistics and all the rest of it, and basically told me to behave, which is difficult for me! At Lymington hospital I had various examinations and they found out that I have quite a lot wrong with me and I needed to take various tablets and do various things and the frailty team come to check that I was doing what I should be doing and that I wasn’t getting worse. When you are unwell, and feeling pain in unusual places, or disturbed by hiccups night and day, along with various other pains then; consultation, explanation and care and attention are so important, these are just some of the things which greatly improve your wellbeing. Yes, this is what you get from the frailty team, it is accompanied by care which is hard to describe but so honest, you know that you are getting not only thoughtful help with no beating around the bush but knowledgeable, down to earth information and treatment. They are also a joy to be with and bring with them warmth and sympathy that is so natural and all so down to earth. I actually looked forward to their visits because they brought with them everything that was meaningful and missing. My wife and I are in a better situation because of their care and attention and straight forward way of working, especially with awkward so and so's like me, thank you boys and girls, I am a different person because of you and your ways.

The frailty team are very easy to get old of. The people within the team are very good, pleasant, reliable and I could not fault them at all.

  3. Review titled Why bother

    by foxtrotnq38 - Posted on 26 June 2023

Elderly relative was feeling frail and weak, a staff member visited with a trainee. Took blood test. Reported he was dehydrated. Water intake increased by PEG carers and discharged. Is that it!? No more care or contact? Why bother?

  4. Review titled Thank you

    by soiltm38 - Posted on 20 July 2023

I can't thank you enough for giving me some hope that I can improve with Pilates and other exercises. Tomorrow I'll sharpen up my scythe and try cutting my grass. That will be the first big test..................

  5. Review titled Knee joint pain

    by zulugk64 - Posted on 05 May 2023

Quick response to GP referral, arranged X-ray within 10 days, referral to specialist knee physio within 7 days, met with medical staff who along with trainee quickly diagnosed the issue and referred for MRI which now will take 10-12 weeks. If this is a blockage to treatment then why not invest in equipment and training?

Dear zulukg64, Thank you taking the time to feedback about your experience with Orthopaedic Choice. I was glad to read about the positive experiences you have had; in particular the speedy access to x-ray, specialist knee physio and medical staff. That being said I was however also sorry to learn of the wait for your MRI scan. I do not know the particulars of your case but can well imagine that this delay will make living with any symptoms harder. Our service liaises with numerous hospitals across Hampshire. Whilst we do not have any control over the number of machines or staff at their disposal we can look to see if your scan could be moved to another location whose wait times may be shorter. If this is something you would like us to do for you then please email our outpatients team (outpatients@southernhealth.nhs.uk) with your name, date of birth and contact details, marking the email for my attention. I will then contact you to see what can be done to help. Thanks again for taking the time to make contact with us. Dr Stuart McInnes GP with Extended Role in MSK Medicine Orthopaedic Choice

  6. Review titled Made my mental health worse

by BadTimesWithWaterfordHouse - Posted on 08 June 2023

Waterford House have significantly made my mental health worse. Once you're through the long waiting list they assign four or five people to you. You're lucky if you see the same person twice. They don't appear to be able to keep staff. Or unlucky, if they decide to withdraw service because you're "not ready" with no explanation of what ready means or how to get there. I feel they are a risk to anyone who is sent there and need to be fully investigated.

    by blackbirdtm48 - Posted on 18 May 2023

I've been incredibly impressed by all the nurses that came out to see me. They've been kind, caring, gentle and very efficient. No pain with bloods being taken. I'm amazed how wonderful everyone has been. Everyone was so cheerful.

  8. Review titled Urgent community response

    by 1172023 - Posted on 12 July 2023

This team were superb. They enabled my father to stay at home rather than being hospitalised. He would almost certainly have died from being transferred to hospital or very shortly afterwards but because he was able to stay at home and receive daily visits from the team for 10 days or so, he recovered. This team is essential for preventing unnecessary admissions, particularly in the elderly. It is however extremely difficult to link up with in the first place. The paramedics told us of their existence but then 111 did not know who they were or how to contact them, and nor did the doctor sent out by 111. As a result we had a desperate weekend trying to access the team and it was only the GP on the Monday morning who managed to put things into action This team is the way forward or in fact back to care in the community.

  10. Review titled My mums journey with Alzheimer’s

by PangieR - Posted on 21 June 2023

My mum has been under the care of the older persons team, following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. We have all been very well supported by this team throughout our time with them. They are very helpful, friendly, professional, understanding & responsive - which really helps during this stressful & emotional time. They have given lots of support with medication & also signposting for support services & extra help. My mums condition deteriorated recently and I contacted the team, who were incredibly responsive, arranging for a fabulous mental health nurse to visit & support mum (& my dad, her main carer) & also look at changes in medication, supported by her lovely consultant. The manager of the team is so very helpful, as our all the support staff. We are very grateful for their support & help.
