I don't know why but some staff are very rude and don't know how to speak nicely and politely to callers. At all times, staff should treat people/patients with a respectful manner. Most of the time depends on who you get, they are very good and helpful but my experience today was awful.

My daughter was taken to A & E. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and empathetic. The care in resus was second to none. Unfortunately I am not allowed to mention specific names as they deserve a mention. I've been to A & E on a number of occasions and this particular visit has shone a positive light on the staff that I had the good fortune to meet.

  3. Review titled Compassionate, proactive, and caring staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Joe - Posted on 15 May 2024

I attended the Emergency Department in May of 2024. Although the department was extremely busy, the staff still managed to go above and beyond, regularly checking and keeping on top of pain and taking the time to answer any questions and make me feel comfortable. I can’t speak highly enough of the nurses, HCAs, doctors and porters - thank you for looking after us all!

Visited for a Colonoscopy, the service was fantastic, the staff as caring as attentive as you could hope for and the whole process was as smooth as I could have hoped. All my anxiety was taken away by a great bunch of people.

  5. Review titled Poor experience Nurse untrained

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Hannah - Posted on 10 April 2024

Nurse who did my blood test was untrained it was painful and seemed like he didn't know what he was doing the nurse said my vein is good but the blood flow wasn't in response why it was painful and said same reason for not want to leave a Cannula and believed this may be reason the nurse also was refilling the vial of blood sample containing trying to add more to them. The nurse then did ecg test ecg clips kept falling off mid test. Waited hours for result Dr was unable to read both the blood test and ecg test done and had to retake both of them as a result. Overall I was there for over 6hrs as a result of having to retake these test the nurse that did my test the 2nd time clearly more experienced and smoothly done with no mishaps or unnecessary pain with a clear difference between the nurses. I understand nurses are being trained but when they are unsure or lacking experience which the first nurse appeared to be I would rather them seek help advice from a staff than just continuing anyways and as a result time is wasted. I am now an inpatient at another local hospital. Turns out blood pressure drop did have a cause, a potentially deadly one. My clots were found on CT scan rather than x Ray or bloods at another an and e. Will be contacting pals

  7. Review titled Fracture in my arm

by Serife Tuylu - Posted on 15 April 2024

I have never ever had the worst experience in all my life. I am a disabled person when in on Sunday with a broken arm. They took me. In took an X-ray. Gave me some painkillers. Bandaged my arm. Gave me an appointment for the 17th to go back this month. My bandage came off and was not secure. That made my arm worse than what it was. So I went back. They took another X-ray. I went back and told me that it is in a worse condition than what it was when I first went in. I wasn't happy with the way they were Dealing With it. I wanted a second opinion so I went to the Homerton hospital. Where they dealt with my injury. They were very good and very concerned about my condition. They called the wing tinton and ask them to send off the images to them. Of my ex race, they did not do that. They refused it. Early hours of the morning, I went back to the hospital. But I first went. There was no one in the waiting room. They made me wait and told me that I should wait until 9 AM. I was holding my hand up with my injured arm and they was not looking at me. Or coming to me, I told them I was in a lot of pain. An hour later, they came back and told me that there was no one there to look at my injury for My arm So I left and came home. I've had no support. No one called me to find out what happened. Just left me like that and now I am sitting in my home in a Terrible stay.

  8. Review titled Contact details

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Family Member - Posted on 26 April 2024

The Occupational Therapy Department has no listed contact telephone number, no voicemail to take messages, no contact email address to leave a message to request staff to make contact. The phone line is not manned so that calls are not answered. A system should be in place so that a message can be left for a member of the team to make contact.

  9. Review titled Worrying statements made

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2024

Went there 4 days after a major operation, supposed to be on bed rest but felt unwell enough to come. Initial BP extremely high (193/109). Arranged a wheelchair for myself as unable to walk due to the operation, was then moved to a chair but the constant upright position led to severe swelling and pain. Second and third BP readings were extremely low for my baseline (130/71) which makes no sense as the lowest it has been for years has been 148/93 and that was only taken a few days ago after operation. So something wasn’t making sense at this point. The nurse said the initial reading was anxiety over being in hospital (no, I am more inclined to believe the first high one due to knowing my body/baselines). I became distressed over the pain and needing to be reclined due to type of operation (bed rest instructions/common knowledge to a lay person never mind medical staff) so was found a trolley. After this distress one nurse attitude became more coarse ( patient fussing, should pull her socks up minimisation). I’ve seen this at other places so nothing new there. On discharge I enquired about the sudden unexplained drop in blood pressure after years of high BP and was told the BP was good, most people would be happy. I am very educated despite my distress today and I know for a fact that individuals baselines should absolutely be taken into account, platitudes have no place in a medical setting where some people will go along with what they are told. I will be sure to speak to my GP immediately about this change and what could have caused it. While there a lady next door was told her symptoms were part of life (feeling breathless, calf and chest pain). This was by a doctor. The doctor I saw did most of the necessary tests, but unfortunately was not around to advise on the BP crash as the third obs were taken right before discharge. So for future reference: stop putting people in chairs who are unable to sit, and don’t make throwaway comments that could lead to negative patient outcomes. Also retrain on BP/check BP machines as diastolic BP dropping by 40 in 3 hours is an emergency, or at least nothing good, and I’m not medical just intelligent/going on common sense
