Review titled Very helpful

I have 4 children, and have visited children’s A&E a number of times in the past year. More so because it is so difficult to get a GP appointment. Every single time, the staff have been kind and caring, courteous and appreciative of our personal circumstances. I would highly recommend using the service if needed.

Review titled Great Children’s A&E
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 May 2023
Staff is extremely helpful and caring. There were at least 5 times in the last 12 months when I visited the children’s A&E with my little girl when she was poorly with UTIs, croup, ear infection, tonsillitis and other conditions that required antibiotics when I wasn’t able to get a GP appointment. This service is crucial to our local area. Otherwise I’d have to go to either Newcastle or Sunderland hospital which are much busier and much further away making it less accessible and more difficult to get quick help. The only downside is that it’s closed overnight so in case of emergency late in the night, the closest children’s unit are further away which isn’t ideal. The hospital in South Shields plays a vital role in the local community providing medical help and support to everyone in need in the area.

Review titled Great bunch of professionals!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Helen - Posted on 18 January 2023
I attended the Surgical Day Care unit at the hospital for surgery to correct a problematic bunion and toe. From the moment I registered my attendance, staff were pleasant, professional and respectful. I was kept informed at every stage of the procedures that were to be performed by the surgeon and appointed nurses. Every credit to all of the teams who worked extremely hard, on a busy schedule, which ran like clockwork. This filled me with great confidence, not only for my own successful outcome, but admiration for a great bunch of professionals I had the pleasure to meet on the day.

Review titled Dedicated staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gerard Hudson - Posted on 26 January 2023
I was admitted to South Tyneside hospital with a lung infection and spent a week there. The treatment was first class. I was particularly impressed with the dedication, kindness and professionalism of the nursing staff who were working under intense pressure. It was a privilege to see how they coped despite all the pressures on the NHS. Other staff including cleaning staff, porters and medical staff were equally wonderful. They all should be commended on their dedication and I thank them all for the wonderful treatment I received.
