  1. Review titled Dissapointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Bev - Posted on 10 August 2023

I have been trying for 3 days to get an appointment, I have sat on the phone for 30 mins + to be told there are no appointments, clearly in my opinion the process is flawed and something needs to change, the anxiety this causes is not good for anyone's wellbeing. I know that you will sincerely apologise but please look at the process, I have no issue with any of the staff I have been with this practice for many many years and have never had a problem but currently it's dreadful and it's such a shame because I have always rated my GP's surgery. Please listen to your patients, the process is just not working ......

Dear Patient I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused and I would like to advise we regularly review the appointment system in practice. As a practice we have increased the number of clinicians and the reception team are trained to care navigate patients depending on the medical issue. I would also like to advise future appointments are available to patients. I would like to sincerely apologise and I would be happy to discuss further. Thank you Swan Medical Centre

  2. Review titled Outstanding Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by A Has - Posted on 02 August 2023

Outstanding care and long term health improvement focus. This is a co-ordiated team of GPs, Social Perscribers, Chair Exercise Instructor, Receptionist Staff and Physiotherapist. GPs discuss the symptoms and underlying causes of ill health in a reassuring and supportive way especially during difficult diagnosis. The Practice encourages healthier choices and lifestyles for better health outcomes. My painful health condition is irreversible, but improvements in medication and guidance on nutrition and chair exercises, and the support of the social perscriber when I have felt overwhelmed, have transformed my quality of life and I am extremely grateful to the wonderful staff at Swan Medical.

We would like to thank you for your comment. The practice team has changed over the last couple of years with the added addition of the primary care network - additional roles team members which has enabled the practice to provide more appointments with additional clinicians such as pharmacists, physiotherapists, social prescribers and psychotherapists. We are continuing to make further changes in practice to support the patient population. As always we aim to give the best possible care and treatment to our patients and would like to say thank you for your kind words.

Dear Patient I would like to sincerely apologise for the difficulty you have experienced trying to contact the surgery. The telephone lines are extremely busy, the reception team aim to answer all calls as quickly as possible. The appointments that are available once all have been taken we do have appointments available at other sites. For any other requests patients have the option to email the surgery with requests. I would like to sincerely apologise and will raise your review with the reception team. Thank you

  4. Review titled Awful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Helen Lennon - Posted on 26 June 2023

Not only can you not get an appointment unless you’re willing to wait weeks we have been told today you need an appointment to get an extension on your doctors sick note!! So wasting my time and the doctors simply for another note for the ongoing medical condition. Next appointment a week Friday the note runs out tomorrow. We requested one via the app to be told that the app just lets reception know to book you an appointment!! What’s the point. Hopefully my husband’s work will continue to pay him while we attempt to get an appointment for another note. This surgery is a disgrace it used to be so good.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused. The appointment system in practice works in two ways, patients have the option to book on the day or book a future appointment. Patients who require a continuing sick note would need to book an appointment to be reviewed as circumstances could change. As a practice we had discussed this and the clinicians felt it is essential for this to continue. We understand that if this is a long term on-going condition it might not be ideal to continually have appointments, but at the moment the clinicians have requested that patients continue to book and be reviewed before a sick note is issued. I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused and would be happy to discuss further if you contact the surgery. Many thanks Swan Medical Centre

I tried to book a appointment with a doctor for the 11/04/2023 but was told that there was no appointments available and was told to phone up on the day as everyone knows that 9 times out of ten you can wait for a hour before they answer the phone just to tell you there is no appointments, the staff are not very helpful at all and I am very disappointed with this doctor's and will probably be finding another doctor will not recommend them to anyone as they are so bad.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused, and to advise the appointments system we have in practice appointments are available daily and we also have future appointments. The clinicians in practice ranging from GPs, Paramedics, Physiotherapist, GP registrar and Pharmacists are able to see patients. The reception team are trained to care navigate patients to be seen by one of the clinical team members. Once the appointments have been taken for the day we do have additional appointments available at the urgent care centres which are available to be booked after 10am each day. I will discuss your review with the reception team and I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused and I would be happy to discuss further if you contact the surgery. Thank you.

I've been at this practice for 21years but I've just moved to new new practice, I called for a face 2face appointment on that day or any time that week and was told they are to busy and it would be the middle of May I asked for a phone andrews on the day or again any time that week and was told the same, and I had been calling for a free weeks and was always told to busy call from 8am each day , the day I had enough I call from 8 am 32 call I made all before 9am, I called back in the afternoon and I was told the above Nothing till middle of May. We were only on the 3rd april. The receptionist said the doctors are very busy and that the earliest time and No appointment can be booked in advance . It's a shame to see the practice like this, I get enough text message from them for this and that doctor leaving or other stuff but no appointments. So I've moved practice now are I've just had a face 2face appointment.

  7. Review titled Very Good GP's

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Amanda - Posted on 18 March 2024

Had a face to face appointment with GP, very understanding of my symptoms and good knowledge of what would help, sent follow up information by text message to read through, that will help manage the condition. A very good Doctor that has been at this practice a long time.

  8. Review titled Waste of time.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Tayla D - Posted on 13 February 2023

Waste of time trying to book an appointment here. You call at 8am as advised & the line is constantly busy, I'm not surprised because I'm sure a lot of people are having the same issues getting through too as many of the reviews say. You check online & there's never any appointments showing on there either. If you do manage get through after calling over the space of a few hours you're told phone again tomorrow at 8am because there's no more appointments left. As someone who works for the majority of the week I don't have the time to be standing around phoning constantly in hopes of getting dealt with & you can see why 111 & A&E get bombarded with so many people. Then I've heard when you are lucky enough to actually get into the surgery for an appointment the reception staff who come across as rude are sat talking & avoiding answering the phones & there's barely anyone in the waiting rooms since they don't do face to face appointments now. There's a bunch of new doctors who I can't fault on their service that I have luckily managed to eventually receive on other occasion, however they would rather talk on the phone than do face to face appointments when sometimes it's more necessary to diagnose something when seeing it for themselves. This surgery has gone downhill but unfortunately I'm not able to move to another because they aren't local or don't have spaces for new patients.

  9. Review titled Absolutely diabolical service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Cogan - Posted on 17 January 2023

booked a telephone appointment a few months ago for my husband because that's all you can get now. He waited for a call all day but nothing i phoned up the next day the receptionist informed me the doctors rang numerous times but no answer! How can this be he had no miss calls or no answer machine messages. Why cant doctors get back to normal? I work in a dental surgery we had 2 months off over lockdown then straight back to normal life working in patients mouths it baffles me.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused, and to advise the appointments booked for patients are via telephone. If the patient however prefers to have a face to face appointment this can be requested when you contact the surgery. The reception team are happy to assist. In regards to the telephone appointment the GP tried to contact your husband numerous times on the day and then left a voicemail to contact the practice and re-book the appointment. I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused and I would be happy to discuss further if you contact the surgery. Thank you.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused. The phone lines are extremely busy and the reception team endeavour to answer each phone call as quickly as possible. The appointments do go very quickly each morning and we advise patients of additional appointments which are available at the pressure clinic which is local to the surgery. Patients are also able to book future appointments if they wish to see one of the GPs at the surgery. The practice has additional staff who are clinically trained to see patients with minor ailments and these appointments are available on a daily basis. Those staff members are clinical pharmacists, paramedic and physicians associate. I would like to sincerely apologise for the upset caused and I would be happy to discuss further if you contact the surgery. Thank you.
