Review titled Flu Clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 September 2022
Another year of excellent organisation and efficiency. All the staff we met, who were working on a Sunday, were professional and kind....including the man controlling the car park. This Practice provides a gold standard service that must be recognised, appreciated and preserved.

Thank you so much for your positive review of our flu clinic - We managed to vaccinate over 700 patients in one day! Thank you to all our patients who always make our flu clinics a really positive experience for our whole team (including the Man in the car park!)

Review titled Disappointed

I know that all parts of the NHS have been impacted by Covid and the subsequent backlog of other work, and I assume GP practices are no exception. However, there now seem to be changes in the Practice procedures which are permanent and which do not seem to be altogether in the patient's favour. It seems difficult or impossible to see your named GP, appointments cannot be made directly online but have to go though a triage process. Sometimes appointments are transferred to a non-doctor, such as PA, pharmacist, physiotherapist or trainee. Last time I was given an appointment I asked who I would be seeing and the person calling simply said "a doctor". Despite my asking again that was the only answer I was given. In other words "you, the patient do not need to know this information" which gave a very poor impression. Having said that I was pleased to be given an appointment on the same day.

Dear Mr Hooper, Thank you for taking the time to feedback. We are lucky in primary care to work with a highly skilled team of health professionals that have different expertise as you say pharmacist, first contact physiotherapists and who can see problems who are triaged as being appropriate for their skills. This allows the GP's to deal with other problems that need a GP. GP speciality trainees are qualified doctors who have been qualified for several years before joining us in practice and have all their work supervised by a GP trainer. The triage is done by an experienced GP, meaning that when you contacted us on the day after a Bank Holiday you were given a face-to-face GP appt within 5 hours of contacting us. We have had a number of new admin staff who may not have been able to see which GP the appointment was booked with and given it was the day after a Bank Holiday it would have been very busy in practice. Whilst we understand that being given the name may have been ideal it would not have changed the outcome which by all measures is outstanding. If anyone would like to see a named clinician or for an ongoing problem, we accommodate this as much as possible but if the problem is new or more urgent, we encourage to come and see any of our excellent team. If you would like to discuss this further, please let us know Dr Nicola Turner

Review titled Doctors are great
Rated 2 stars out of 5

The GP’s at the Hall Practice are great even though you are unlikely to see the same GP’s twice. I love my actual GP but haven’t been able to see her. The support staff are not so good. They have no empathy for patients and don’t treat you like a person. The thought of actually having to speak to one of them makes my blood pressure go up and causes me great stress. Not what it should be like when you are feeling unwell or are worried about something! I need to book an appointment to discuss blood test results but can’t bring myself to speak to the admin team to do this. When each GP had their own secretary, it was much more of a personal service.

Thankyou for the positive comments about our GP staff. We are a much busier practice ( in line with national data) than when we had personal secretaries in the past. The volume of telephone calls means it is not possible for one person to manage the calls and all the other administration ( prescription requests, referrals, enquires about results, sick notes, insurance forms etc) that happens in our practice. Our team approach allows this to happen in a timely way. You are able to see the same GP for an ongoing condition if you wish, but this may mean waiting longer. Where something needs more urgent treatment this will be booked with the soonest clinician available. You can request an appointment online through our website ( no log in needed) that goes directly to one of the GP team who are triaging the calls and you do not need to talk to an admin team member. https://calcotmedicalcentre-hallpractice.co.uk/appointments You can also access your results online through the NHS app. If you have more specific feedback about a particular incident please contact the practice directly in order that we can look into this and see where things could be improved for you.

Review titled Fantastic practice, excellent staff, extremely efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The Hall Practice is nothing short of outstanding. I was sceptical moving from a highly innovative practice in London 5 years ago - but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and consistency of great care at The Hall Practice. They are kind, efficient, clinically excellent, and always go above and beyond to deliver first class care - right from the admin and reception staff, to the doctors, nurses and practice management team. Great leadership - you fully deserve the Cqc outstanding ratings you have received! Thanks to all the staff for doing a stellar job especially under such difficult times. Best jt
