Review titled Time really doesn't apply to all patients
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Kenneth Allan - Posted on 21 October 2022
I had cause to contact via phone regarding prescription and this is what I was subjected to! 15.38 I called. After 11 minutes and 30 seconds I was told that I was number 5 on the waiting list, after a further 8.5 minutes I became 4th on list, a further 2 minutes I became 3rd on the list, after a further 16 minutes I moved on to number 1 on the list, another 1 minute 10 seconds my call was answered by a very helpful receptionist. What was the greatest thing to cope with was being repeatedly (every 30 seconds) screeched at by a taped recording which went from shrill to inaudible advising me that my call was "very important" Total telephone call lasted a wholly unacceptable 46 minutes. Whilst appreciating the difficult times we are living through the practice, in my opinion, needs to look at it's patients who are, after all, the people who need proper consideration, especially the elderly who find the restrictions they are being subjected to totally bemusing!

Dear Mr Allan, I am very sorry that you were left waiting on our phone line for so long. This is not acceptable and I will investigate what the delay in answering was. Please accept my sincere apologies Kind regards Sam Blackwill Practice Manager

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had problems getting an appointment. Demand is very high and in response to this we are offering appointments with a variety of clinicians. We offer routine and same day appointments, these are released daily. NHS111 also have access to some of our appointments and will use them following a clinical triage. The vaccination programme runs alongside our normal practice and does not affect the number of appointments we offer. We are currently looking at how we can improve our appointment system to meet the increased patient need while maintaining patient and staff safety. Please contact me at the practice if you would like to discuss this further. Kind regards Sam Blackwill Practice Manager

Review titled Patient Participation Group
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Stuart Smith - Posted on 21 October 2022
I have read the reviews of patients who leave reviews and 1 question springs to mind . The Patient Participation Group Does it exist? I ask as I joined it in 2020 and we never had 1 meeting and I think that patients need a voice as right now were not being heard.

Review titled Time to get appointments put back on line
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Other practices offer prebookable appointments up to four weeks ahead Online !! . Why can’t Aldergate return to offering the same. The website is extremely restricted. Can’t be used when practice shut - why not when others open 24/7 safely ! The practice should put appointments on line - it is time to give us better access . It surely would free up telephone lines for urgent appointments . Also I know the reason people prefer to stay anonymous is because of fear that obtaining appointments would become even more difficult. Does anybody who monitors the reviews act on anything that is suggested rather than just send a standardised response and could they look at other practices to see how they are run online and use their best ideas.

Review titled Not Good
Rated 1 star out of 5

Call after 8am for an appointment. Website says call after 2pm to make it easier. Then there are no appointments left !!!!!!! Patient Access doesn't work and is not easy to navigate. Waste of time if you need repeat prescriptions. This all happened BEFORE Covid so don't listen if they say it is recent. They obviously have too many patients to care for and are therefore overrun. If that is the case then stop taking more patients on. The whole process is too long and complicated
