  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Went in for an injection and a hypertension review. The nurse was cheerful and patient with me. She always gives a written reminder of the date I should book my next B12 injection.

  2. Review titled Brilliant practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lesley Hayes - Posted on 31 May 2023

I am always able to get an appointment when I want one, and choose which doctor suits me best. Appointments are generally on time, and if I have to wait I don’t mind because the doctors give me as much time with them as I need to explain the issue and examine me thoroughly and always with the utmost respect and kindness. If ever there is need for a referral it is done quickly and easily. I feel very lucky that this is my local GP surgery.

  3. Review titled Very happy with this GP practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Highly recommending GP practice. Do not hesitate to register with this GP practice. The practice has enough tightly trained staff waiting time for an appointment is minimum for Oxford.

  4. Review titled Simply awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Edwin Father - Posted on 10 March 2023

This practice bought out our former practice of South Oxford Health Centre and we have been trying to appreciate St Bartholemew's for 3 years now. That said, the service we receive as a family of five (including 3 young children) has been consistently awful. It is rarely possible to speak to a doctor. Telephone appointments with nurses and paramedics (for which no appointment time is given) are simply made. We are then told to diagnose one another over the phone. On the rare occasion that a prescription is agreed, the paramedics/nurses need to send this for approval by a senior paramedic or a duty doctor who then promptly changes the medications which makes for a nasty surprise when we go to collect the medication from the pharmacy. Often, the prescription is not even there. If we ask to see a doctor (e.g. for our ailing 3-year-old), we are often told that the doctors are too busy. This practice is too big and they certainly don't care about their patients.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We are sorry to read that you feel our service is not as you would wish. I will try to address the points that you have raised. As things stand as I write this response, the first routine telephone consultations with a GP are available to book from this Friday and with face to face consultations available from Tuesday next week. A duty Dr is always available during the surgery opening hours for urgent medical concerns. You certainly shouldn't be told that a GP is "too busy" to see anyone. With more specific information we would be able to look into this more closely, listen to call recordings and use any such instance for staff training. Telephone appointments are not given a specified time but will be booked either for the morning or afternoon session. As in many practices the GPs are supported with minor illness care by Advanced Nurse practitioners and or paramedics, in some cases a GP will need to sign off on medication if the clinician themselves is not a prescriber and they will only prescribe medication if they feel it is warranted. With regards to changes in the medication or a prescription not being at the pharmacy we would need to have more details to be able to look into a specific instance to confirm why there had been a delay or a change in medication. We agree that we are a large practice but this means we have a large clinical skill set to draw from. We don't agree that we don't care about our patients. Our patients are at the fore front of all that we do and the team are constantly striving to provide the best care that we can. If you would like to get in touch with me directly at the practice with the specific details of your concerns, either via our website or by telephone then we will be able to investigate and respond with our findings. Kind regards Jo Hearle Deputy Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Shahinaz El-Aghoury - Posted on 21 January 2023

I have been using St Bartholomew's since 1998 and it never failed me. It has great communication, great , knowledgable GPs who you can trust and always giving round the clock care and support. The new system that they have introduced in calling you back if there is a long queue is brilliant too. Always finding appointments whether face to face or telephone ones.

  7. Review titled Brilliant service and great doctors

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 December 2022

Seen straight away if needed medical attention. If F2F is unavailable, there is always the telephone call method and if the doctor on the phone is suspecting something, they make sure you are seen the next day.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your positive review. At this time of year there is always a high demand on appointment availability but over the last few weeks the demand has been exceptionally high. As you have said we continue to offer consultations both face to face and over the telephone and a Duty Doctor is available each day for medical emergencies.

  9. Review titled Very helpful GP advice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Ronald Pittaway - Posted on 08 November 2022

The GP appointment to review the results of my knee scan was very helpful. The GP not only informed me of the diagnosis revealed by my scan but also offered advice on what exercise I could take and the correct use of a knee support.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I met with two doctors for a review. The analysis was incisive and a range of possible actions was discussed, drawing me into the discussion. An agreed action plan followed with a hospital appointment offered within five hours.
