  1. Review titled Awful Practise

Rated 1 star out of 5

Awful Practise. I feel sorry for all patients that are still registered here. Not only are the reception staff extremely rude and invasive when you call to make an appointment but they are also extremely rude to your face. I have never been to such a practise where I have been made to feel like I am a problem by calling my GP to try and get an appointment. The Doctors are ok, but nurses are extremely rude, particularly rude, unfiltered comments around issues you come to them with. They make you feel small and like you are a time waster. Please move practise if you can, this is terrible!

  2. Review titled Invasion of privacy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Every time I ring up to make an appointment the receptionist asks me to tell them what the problem is before they will arrange one. When I challenge this and explain that I am not comfortable telling the receptionist why I want to see the doctor, I’m told they need to know in order to decide whether it’s urgent or not. Not wanting to point out the obvious but receptionists are not doctors so why are they judging what is urgent and what isn’t? As far as I know I’m under no obligation to tell them anything about my health- that’s between me and the doctor. What if someone is trying to make an appointment about something embarrassing or stigmatised - why would they want to share this with anyone other than the doctor. For some people even telling the doctor is difficult and it may put them off booking an appointment in the first place - leading to life threatening consequences. Surely all they need to ask is whether the appointment could be done over the phone? I understand that GPs and their time are scarce, but just I don’t think that this is the correct way to book appointments. This has been going on since I have been with this practice (almost 4 years) and I have never seen this done in any other GP practice I have been with.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. The GP's have asked reception that when they have contact with patients requesting an appointment they politely ask for a brief description of the problem. This allow the clinicians to then triage their list and call in those they need to contact first in case they feel the need to refer a patient to an emergency service. I hope this clarifies matters. Yours sincerely, Shepperton Medical Practice

  3. Review titled Excuse and excuse

Rated 1 star out of 5

How is it possible to manage an ongoing condition when it is impossible to get an appointment? How is it possible to get an appointment when the form is never available? How is it possible to get an appointment if they tell you to call first thing and then don't answer the phone? Every review is bad, but nothing has been done. It's the same excuse they've had for months. But nothing is being done to fix the problems. The answers to the reviews are accusatory and rude, of course people don't want to put there names because they're worried the reception staff will treat them even worse than they already do. The practice manager clearly isn't managing, so the public are left in limbo. Everywhere has suffered due to the pandemic, it can no longer be an excuse.

Dear Patient, I'm sorry that you are finding access to the practice frustrating. There is still unprecedented demand and we are seeing patients with a backlog of problems. with regard to continuity of care, if a GP or clinician need to see a patient again for continuity they will arrange a follow up. For health and safety purposes we have to limit the number of contacts our GP's and nursing teams see each day. the forms are therefore automatically turned off when we hit our ceiling. This then allows urgent on the day requests that may come in later. Along with other surgeries we use signposting to other NHS services that now form part of primary care, for example local pharmacies, LIVI and walk in centres. All are stretched at this time. I hope this clarifies matters. Yours sincerely, Shepperton Medical Practice
