I tried to get an appointment only to be told that none were available and to try again later! I can't move surgery as there are not any other catchment areas I am eligible for!

Dear patient, I am sorry that you were not able to obtain an appointment when you contacted the surgery. Reception staff are trained to offer every possible alternative when we are fully booked including signposting to local walk in centers. I have reinforced this with the staff. The practice has recently recruited two new GPs that are due to start in August and September which will greatly increase the available appointments for patients. I would be happy to discuss this further if you contact me in person at the the surgery. Kind Regards Wendy Maguire, Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Bad Screening Experiance

Rated 1 star out of 5

I went for my cervical screening appointment and despite wanting my friend to come in with me I was told by the receptionist that I wasn’t allowed to have anyone in the room (despite what it says in the leaflet that I can have a friend in with me if I wanted to. After eventually getting seen by the nurse who was running nearly 15 minutes late, I asked if she could use the smallest speculum possible only to be told that there was only one size, and when I asked if she would use some KY Jelly to make the process more comfortable she said she couldn’t as the lab didn’t allow it. I left at this point as there was no way I was going to put myself through that level of discomfort and embarrassment. There is clearly some training needed here as at my previous practice the nurses had different size speculums available and used KY to make the process more comfortable. I have vowed never to have this test again and have now formally opted out of the cervical screening program.

Dear Patient, I am extremely sorry that you had this experience at the practice and I would like to investigate in full. I have interviewed both nurses that do cervical screening and neither of them recognize this scenario. Both nurses have access to several size speculums and KY jelly in both nurse treatment rooms. We have a standard policy of allowing a chaperone or friend into consultations if requested. I would be grateful if you would contact me in person at the surgery so that I can obtain your details and follow this up. Kind Regards Wendy Maguire, Practice Manager.
