    Can't fault my experience recently at Avenue House. I submitted a medical request and although I was given a phone appointment a few days later and as a reasonable adjustment due to being autistic I can't generally have phone calls, I messaged them and they rectified this promptly and I got a face to face appointment on the same day that my phone appointment would have been. I had not seen this particular doctor before but she was fantastic. Upbeat, bright, chatty, engaging and clear at explaining things. Got everything sorted out for me, provided no barriers and very efficient with it. Exemplary care and communication to the level of standard that I expect and appreciate. Blood test was arranged for next day which when I arrived for it, the reception team were already fully aware of my adjustments including not to wait in the main waiting area without me even asking. They were on the ball and reliable which was impressive. Nurse taking the bloods was also attentive, seemed to be aware of my needs and handled the session accordingly and again, really impressed with the awareness of my needs, the consistency and this was such a pleasant experience. If every encounter with the practice was like today, and as it should be every time, then I would have no hesitation in recommending this practice as the most professional around. Sadly, this is not the case at the moment but this experience gave me some confidence that the practice may at last be learning from previous mistakes and really making a positive difference to patients experiences and medical care.

    It is an absolute joke that you are only doing same day appointments now, it is nearly impossible to see a GP, it wasn’t this way before COVID, you will find you are stretched thin because you are not booking advanced appointments. How will you catch serious illnesses before it’s too late if no one can make an appointment? There are thousands of people who are not receiving the treatment they need and are potentially dying because of your inability to organise appointments adequately. Sort it out.

    Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments and review. I am somewhat saddened and sorry to hear of your frustrations regarding the appointment system. I do however feel your comments are not fully accurate and do not fairly reflect the appointment system in place at Inspire Health. Inspire Health, as with many other practices, have adopted a 'total triage' stance with appointments. This means that all clinical appointment requests are screened and triaged by a GP to offer an appropriate appointment or sign-post to a more suitable service. It is not simply true that the practice offers only 'same-day' appointments and I can confirm that the practice offers both urgent on the day appointments as well as more routine based appointments that are booked in advance. All requests are triaged regardless of urgency and this is to ensure patient safety. Your comments are concerning and wonder if there is more to this matter than your comments suggest. If you would like Inspire Health to look into this matter more specifically for you, please do get in touch with the practice by either telephoneing or completing the online complaint form which can be found on the Inspire Health website.     Whenever I have contacted the surgery my query has been dealt with promptly and efficiently and today was no exception. The receptionist who contacted me was friendly and efficient. I needed an urgent drug review and had nearly run out of my essential medication. I have an appointment tomorrow. Need I say more.

    I've had no problems with the care I have received from the doctors at Inspire Health. The staff are helpful and friendly. As with most places with increased demand and limited resources, getting through on the phone can sometimes take longer than expected. I've not had any problems requesting an appointment using the online system. Happy with the service and care I have received from Inspire Health.

    Wrote to the practice twice (first letter was not responded to) asking them to provide an annual review for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Long Covid type illness as specified and recommended in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines. After a partner meeting, they declined to offer me something as rudimentary as a one off short appointment once a year to review my chronic health condition. This sends a clear message that my health is a side issue to Inspire Health and a clear message that recommended clinical guidelines, although not legally binding, are rebutted in favour of an easier life.

    Although I’ve had the odd glip with this surgery …. On the whole they are pretty good. Reception girls always pleasant and when you can get an appointment the Drs are very helpful

    Phoned the surgery for an appointment to see a certain Dr who understands my condition. It was an early morning call, and obviously the call wait time was 35 minutes. When I finally got through I was told the appointments were at full capacity and to call back another day, and this was only 30 minutes after the lines opened. I asked the call taker if I could make an appointment in the next week or so, but she explained that I could only make an appointment for the same day. But my reason wasn't an emergency and to call back the next day. What amuses me is the fact that in the waiting room, there never seems to be more than 4 patients waiting. This at one time was the best surgery in Chesterfield, and people only gave praise to the practice. But what a different story it is now. Since it has changed its name to inspire health the practice has gone down hill rapidly. I just hope the top brass at the NHS know how they are operating, they don't give a stuff with regards patient care. I'd strongly recommend the QCC need to look into the ongoings at inspire health, and the poor service they provide. I was told two weeks ago by a certain Dr to loose weight by fasting for 6 hrs a day then extend it to 12 hrs thereafter. Couldn't believe what I was hearing seeing as I am diabetic. This surgery still wants to operate as they were during the Covid pandemic. It's ridiculous.

    Dear Kevin, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and comments. We are so very to hear of your frustrations and concerns. At present, all clinical appointment requests are triaged to ensure patients are receiving the correct level of care in an appropriate time frame. Unfortunately, as with any practice, there must be a limit / capacity to this and the GP is unable to triage an unlimited number of requests. We do however understand your frustration regarding the booking of routine appointments and are actively looking to implement a separate period of time in which patients can make contact for more routine appointments. We will of course advise all patients when this comes into effect. In regard to your comments regarding the waiting room and the number of people sat waiting at any given time. Please bare in mind that many clinicians still undertake a large number of telephone consultations and therefore whilst the waiting rooms may not look busy, the clinicians are still very much hard at work. We are so very saddened to hear you feel Inspire Health simply does not care. If you would like the practice to look into this matter as an individual complaint, please do get in touch via the complaints form found on our website or by ringing the surgery to raise your complaint verbally.     I have struggled with my mental health throughout my life. In the past few weeks I found myself in a very bad place. My GP arranged for crisis support and medication on the same day as well as providing me with details for longer-term counselling services. I have found my GP to be extremely supportive and very easy to talk to. Thanks to their intervention I have hope that I can turn a corner. I am immensely grateful for their help, and feel very lucky to have access to these services.
