    I rang the practice for a telephone appointment only to be told to ring back the following day at 8.30am. I asked if I could have a call back from a doctor the following day and was told the appointments have to be made the same day and that was that. No details were taken as to if the issue was serious and/or urgent. I have had to build myself up for several days to make this telephone call and I feel that many people like me will go on suffering as they feel calling a doctor is a big issue, may have phobias, or just think that it is far too much trouble and too difficult to try and contact the surgery. The practice website states that if you contact them they will endeavour to give to a callback within 48 hours. It does not state anything about as long as the contact is at 8.30am. 8.30am may not always be convenient for everyone. Contrary to the image put out by the media the NHS is not easy to contact and many complaints will go untreated, possibly until they are very serious and untreatable

    Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you were not happy with the service you received. Our appointment system is designed to try to deal with patients as quickly and efficiently as possible. The basic system is that if you ring with a medical issue before approximately 14.00 we will guarantee to speak to you that day. If it is after 14.00 we may ask you ring back the following day, from 08.30 onwards, so that we can manage the workload. You do not have to phone on the dot of 08.30. If this was not made clear then I apologize. Our average wait time for a phone call to be answered is under 3 minutes, which I think compares very favorably with other organizations and does mean we are easy to contact.
