  1. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 October 2022

I’ve been having problems getting a appointment from this surgery since January .I’ve had only one face to face and one call back I’m in severe pain .I’m on the phone at 8am every morning and looking online for appointments. I cannot make it down to the surgery for 8am because I am unable to walk Farr due to pain .also if you want to find out about results you could be waiting up to one hour for someone to answer at the reception.

Thank you for your comments. I am very sorry to hear that you have had difficulties at the surgery. We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls to the practice, whilst as a place of work we continue to be affected by unplanned absences and staff shortages. I would be happy to discuss this further if you would like to contact the surgery or email me at modality.hwmc@nhs.net. Aimee Hampton, Practice Manager

  2. Review titled No appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Juliette - Posted on 30 August 2022

Impossible to get even a telephone appointment. Called dead on 8am to get my call answered at 8.45, to be told no appointments and they had already had 120 calls?! According to their automated message though I was number 24 in the queue when I first called? Receptionists are not interested and robotic. This is not a one off experience, they are consistently bad. They have been saying they are working on improving for years and it has not changed. GP standard is generally good but not all of them, the surgery needs a complete overhaul!

  3. Review titled Worst Ever Doctors Surgery to Contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Col - Posted on 16 August 2022

The doctors at the surgery are good. It’s the telephone answering service that is absolutely appalling, which recently was supposed to have been improved. Over an hour and still no answer I was stuck on you are number 9 in the queue down from number 21. I had to abandon the call to get to an appointment. What a waste of time. I will have to try again in the morning to sort out some meds for my Mom. I wish I could move her to my doctors practice, a couple of rings and the phone is answered after the initial pre recorded message.

  4. Review titled How does anybody get appointments?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andrew - Posted on 28 July 2022

This is from experience ... 1.Trying to get an appointment over the phone - ring when the phone lines open at 8am. Immediately one is in a queue, then one is told that there are no appointments left for the day and appointments can't be made for the next day. Told to ring back at 8am the next day. The same thing happens the next day, and the next day .... getting an appointment over the phone seems impossible. 2. Use the on-line system - appointments are allegedly made available at 8pm the day before. So go online at 7.59pm and constantly refresh the booking page hoping that some appointments slots appear - they don't - they never do. Getting an appointment using the online booking system seems not to work. 3. In person - apparently you have to get to the surgery when it opens at 8am and you will queue to see a GP, but there is no guarantee that you will be seen. So it seems that physically queueing at the surgery is the only way to get an appointment, which brings me to the question, how do people with mobility issues, who may struggle to physically attend the surgery at 8am get access to a GP appointment? On the face of it , this lack of choice in accessing services is discriminatory against disabled people. How can the practice justify this sorry state of affairs?

  5. Review titled Poor Telephony system

Rated 2 stars out of 5

This practice uses a poor telephone system when trying to book appointments or get information. Most recently I had to wait over 2hrs in the queue only for the system to fail and disconnect my call.

  7. Review titled I NEED HELP

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 June 2022

3 Times the surgery has tried to assist me by getting on line, each time we have got as far as change password and it doesn't work. As you can tell from your other reviews it is almost impossible to get an call back from a doc by ringing in. l have tried several times myself. l also sent a review weeks ago to which l havn't even had one of those "standard" reply's. l am very worried and depressed about this whole state of affairs, of not being able to get an NHS GP to help me. l just hope that my conditions don't get to a serious condition that could harm me and l can't come back from. ln other words doesn't end up as cancer. Please advise. !!!!!

  8. Review titled Terrible Wait Times

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Matthew - Posted on 13 December 2022

Consistently long wait times to get through, whether that is for an appointment or otherwise. I registered in November 2021 and the shortest wait time has been 1hr 27m and the longest being 2hr 5m. How is anyone expected to stay on hold for this amount of time? People are busy with work, school runs or other appointments. On some occasions i have reached the end of the queue to be told “there was a problem connecting your call”. You are usually on hold for about 30 minutes before being told “you are in a queue above 30” and then it starts ticking down from 30 to 1. Their phone line sometimes presents you with an option to “press 1, not lose your place in the queue and someone calls you back when its your turn” that has never worked for me - no call backs. They have a late opening on Mondays until 8pm but their phone line still closes at 6.30, why? you have to visit in-person to speak with reception between those hours. I once called after 5.30 thinking it wpuld be a quiet time but there was still 20 people in the queue so i went in-person and found only one person answering the telephone who was also chatting to the other receptionist inbetween the calls (i was there a while because a GP had to sign off on a prescription). This is probably why you will wait so long. Please respect your patients and answer the calls swiftly. I’ve had a few issues accessing regular medication through this surgery, due to notes not being followed up, which puts peoples health at risk. Sadly, no practice in the local area seems to have good reviews, but this one might be the worst.

Dear Matthew I am sorry to see that you have struggled to contact the Practice via the telephone. We are currently experiencing increased demand on our telephone lines and our care navigation team has been working very hard to answer calls under the additional pressure. I recognise that difficulties in accessing the Practice can be extremely frustrating for our patients and I apologise unreservedly for any upset or inconvenience. Kind regards Patient Experience Team
