  1. Review titled No duty of care and no compassion towards their patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2022

Absolutely disgusting service to use. I strongly would not recommend it. Reception staff are absolutely rude and disgusting. They have no sense of compassion, they have no duty of care towards their patients and are not at all helpful. They physically laugh over you situation and think sometimes don’t give you an appointment on purpose. They speak to u with no respect, no empathy and it’s not just me, I witnessed a lady at the reception desk speak to a foreign gentleman who needed an appointment for his poorly baby and wasn’t aware of the procedure to follow like utter disrespect she clearly looked down on him and showed compassion, or sympathy, that poor gentleman probly felt worthless and not valued. I wasn’t able to speak up for him as I felt my appointment for my toddler would be jeopardised and at risk. This was all whilst I was sat at the waiting area waiting on a gp to call my toddler in. Honestly if u require the best care for yourself or your family members then please avoid this surgery at all costs. If u ask to speak to the manager regarding any concerns it’s pointless as the manager is just as rude. I mean I was on hold for 28 minutes trying to get through to someone and when I did I got through to a rude lady who then escalated the call to a manager who then on purpose cut the phone line knowing full well I needed medical attention and have been on hold for so long. If anyone has any concerns and you feel like this service is not delivery care up to standards then please contact CQC they will ensure your complaint is investigated thoroughly. Besides i think this service desperately needs to be reviewed by cqc as it was last reviewed in 2016. Please don’t feel as if you are stuck and are unable to report ur concerns to anyone.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to add your feedback to NHS Choices. It would appear you are very unhappy with the service provided by the practice to the point that you have been very rude to the practice staff. Although your comment is anonymous I am aware of the call that was put through to me where the rudeness continued and therefore I terminated the call. Should you wish to discuss your concerns I would be happy to do so. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Always be consistent

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have been with this surgery for years , I have had good communication , appointments have always been accessible to the best of their capability, obviously they can not have appointments available for everyone they are not super human but they strive to do their best . I find the receptionists friendly on the phone and very accommodating. Through the pandemic they did their upmost to ensure my medical issues were dealt with as soon as possible under such dire circumstances. Phone consultations have been more than satisfactory as are E-consultations . I find that understanding that the practice has thousands of patients it might not be feasible to please all but they do try .

  3. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

They lost our documents which we used for registering 3 family members and we could not get any help when needed it. When they finally found the documents after some time and lots of telephone conversations, they could not arrange a GP meeting because there were no spots available and offered to continue calling each day at 8 o'clock in the morning... Just horrible. No help, no service.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to submit your comments on NHS Choices. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the registration process. We have high volumes of patients completing the registration process daily and the forms are then entered on to the clinical system. Currently we are short staffed for various reasons and although we are currently recruiting this process takes time in the meantime we are doing our best to keep up with the high volumes of work on a daily basis. I am sorry that the reception staff were unable to locate your paperwork and were unable to offer you an on the day appointment once found. I will feedback to staff that in the circumstances they could have referred to their TL or Practice Manager to release an appointment for the following day. Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager

  4. Review titled A wonderful practice

I can honestly say that I have nothing but good things to say about Armley Medical Centre. From the staff on reception to the doctors, they all do such a fantastic job. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve been given so much support from the team and my doctor in particular. I don’t know where I’d be without that support. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Grateful family members - Posted on 18 August 2022

We have had the need to register a relative with this practice recently. The service and care has been nothing short of excellent. The practice and PCN teams are caring, attentive and well informed. Nothing is too much trouble. External/attached services have also been excellent and timely in their responses. The service we have received from this practice and their PCN should be available everywhere. Well done. You've got it right. An exceptional NHS service. Thank you

  6. Review titled Fantastic Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Claire - Posted on 01 July 2022

I have been going here for 14 years now since pregnancy. The staff are excellent and have provided my family with good care. Recently I have had some medical issues and I have been well looked after. The female doctors and nurses are exceptional and the male doctors that are regular at the practice have also been great when I’ve seen them. Thanks for all you do

  7. Review titled Very disappointing practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by NJM - Posted on 22 February 2024

I have been with the practice for 11 years now and over the past 3 years the practice has poor service when it comes to booking appointments. The lines never go through until like around 8.30 and when they eventually put you in the queue and you don't get to speak to anyone till after an hour and above. They never have an appointment for anyone. Its either you are offered an appointment for the next 2 weeks or they just tell you to go to a walk in centre or ring 111. You will be in pain and its like they do not care. I had tonsillitis(hard to talk, swallow, fever, swollen tonsils) and was told they can only offer me an appointment in the next 2 weeks or go to a walk in which is onto the other side of leeds. What is the point of having a gp practice if they can nor even provide services for their patients. I'm highly disappointed on how this surgery has gone down hill. Completely disgusted with the service here

Dear Patient Firstly, please accept my apologies that you are unhappy with the service from our Practice and that you find us very disappointing. Please be assured that we are working extremely hard to provide appointments to those in need. Over the last 3 years we have continually reviewed our appointment system, since Covid, the demand has been exceptionally high, we have recruited more GPs and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner providing more telephone and face to face appointments on a daily basis. We do offer routine appointments or give you the option of booking at our Out of Hours service at Priory View on a Saturday when these become available. Once all appointments are full, we would also offer advice from 111 or you can visit the Walk-in Centre. We have no control over where the walk-in centre is based and have continually made a plea to local commissioners that a walk-in centre is needed around LS12 to support patients in this area. We see or speak to high volumes of patients on a daily basis, deal with e-consultations, prescription and sick note requests as well as doing other administrative work, please be assured the GPs are working very hard to meet demand. I do not believe the surgery has gone “downhill” and I am sorry you feel that way, we continually strive to offer high standards of care to patients and we will continue to review our appointment system on a regular basis to put in place changes to enhance the service. If you would like to discuss in person, please feel free to contact the surgery on the usual number to arrange a convenient date / time. Linda Thompson Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Brilliant staff.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jill Adamczyk - Posted on 27 May 2022

I 'phoned the surgery on Tuesday morning, (23/05/22), but was not surprised that all the appointments had gone, because of pressure of calls. I said if I still felt unwell, I would try again the next day, which I did. Again all the appointments had gone. The receptionist spoke with me and asked what it was about, after I explained, she arranged an urgent appointment and also sent me a text with a number of another service to contact if things deteriated further before the Doctor called. I can not praise this lady enough, she was so kind and reassuring, please give her my thanks and appreciation. The Doctor called a couple of hours later. She was amazing and spoke to a colleague and then arranged a face to face appointment the following day. To summarise, everybody was so kind, and I am aware the staff are under a lot of pressure in these difficult times. They receive a lot of critisism, and I'm sure some abuse. I am posting this review to say I am sure the majority of patients appreciate all the staff, it is easy to critisise!

Dear Jill Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback for the team on NHS Choices, it is much appreciated. I have shared with the whole team with a special mention for the receptionist and GP who supported you that day. The staff do receive a lot of abuse and aggression at the moment despite trying their best to offer what the patient needs so it is really welcome to hear such wonderful praise for the team. I do hope that the support you received has been beneficial to you. Thank you again Kind Regards Linda Thompson Practice Manager
