  1. Review titled Great new system

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Polly - Posted on 01 May 2024

I used the new computerised system for making a non urgent appointment with the GP. It was simple to use and I could do it in my own time so there was no stress. I received a text reply a couple of hours later with a date for my appointment - it was as simple as that. I used the system again the following day for a medication query and got a very helpful reply even more quickly. Based on these experiences I think the new system is excellent!

No review of medivation for years. Asked for an advance appointment with GP. Waited 3 weeks ...given a 2 hour slot to wait for call. After waiting 1.5 hours found GP had rang off before I could answer. Pharmacist unable to help. This should be carried out as a routine.

  4. Review titled Inadequate and Confusing Systems

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by A Coombes - Posted on 18 April 2024

Firstly: The call at 08.00am for an appointment system is ridiculous. The new electronic system is going to be even more ridiculous and confusing to many patients, Elderly, and those with Metal Health Issues, especially if the patient is not computer savvy. Secondly: I can't get a telephone interview for X-Ray results after being text messaged to do so! Why change something that was not broken? Read your 'Mission Statement' before replying to me in writing.

  5. Review titled Un-satisfactory Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have trying for the past week to speak to a gp about an x-ray I had recently. I have phoned at 8am several times, but always told there's no remaining slots! How on earth am I supposed to speak to a gp about my health and my options going forward?

We are sorry to hear that you have been encountering problems with trying to speak to a GP about your x-ray results. From 22 April 2024 we will be introducing a new way of working which we hope will increase our capacity and improve access for patients. From 22 April 2024 all patients of the surgery who have access to a smart phone, computer or tablet will be asked to submit a clinical or medical administrative query via a form on an online facility called ‘Accurx’. This will allow us to triage patient requests and arrange appointments for them with the right people, at the right time. We believe this process will improve capacity as we will be able to book some medical issues in with non GP clinicians (where it is appropriate to) and thereby increasing our GP availability for those that do need to speak to a GP. We have recently had a doctor return from maternity leave and a new GP begins working with us in September. These things combined, together with the above, we hope that in the near future you will find it easier to make an appointment. Thank you again for taking the time to feedback For further information about our new way of working please see the online appointments section of our practice website.

  6. Review titled Ongoing issues

Rated 1 star out of 5

It is so difficult to get an appointment and there are still many inaccessible practices happening here despite it being brought to their attention. First, the hold music is awful- shrill and frantic, exactly what I can't stand to hear when I am on hold for 45 minutes at a time and unwell. Please change this. Second, when you do get an appointment, the confirmation text is never what the receptionist tells you. If you book a phone appointment for 11.30am, the text will say you have a phone appointment between 10.30 and 12.30. What is the point? If you, like me, are autistic, this is an ableist nightmare. if you, like me, are working, this is a logistical nightmare. Last time I needed an appointment I ended up having to call 111 to avoid being hospitalised. This time I was told I booked an in person appointment (on second day of trying) only to receive a text confirming my phone appointment... hopeless.

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you have had difficulties in trying to get an appointment. Firstly, we only have a limited number of choices regarding the whole music. We have spent time with our patient group and let them choose which music to play, which we have implemented. We are sorry you do not like the music. We can understand it would make waiting even more irritating if you don't like the music being played. For the majority of the day we have a call back option available to save having to hold, do try this option which we hope will help. Lastlym the reason why we offer a time frame window for telephone appointments is we can not be exact with what time a phone call will happen. Some telephone consultations may take longer than the alloted ten minutes and others will be quicker. We try to give a best indication. Again, we are sorry that this is not your preference. You will (we hope) be pleased to hear that from 22 April we are launching a new way of working. From 22 April, all patients of the surgery who have access to a smart phone, computer or tablet will be asked to submit a clinical or medical administrative query via a form on an online facility called ‘Accurx’. We understand that there will be patients who are unable to submit their request electronically, and you will still be able to phone us, or visit us in person. In these cases, a receptionist will ask you the same questions as the online form, and take the same information. These requests will then be dealt with in exactly the same way as those who submit their requests electronically. Hopefully the phone access will be quicker for those that do need to call as we expect the majority of patients will use the online forms. Please see the online appointments section of our website for further information. Thank you. We very much hope you see an improvement in our access going forward

  7. Review titled A triumph.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I prepared myself for a lengthy and frustrating process this morning to make an appointment for my mother. I called on the dot of 8 and requested a call back. This came at 8.15. A telephone appointment was made for 9.30. Antibiotics proscribed and were delivered - -within about 30 minutes! The three people I spoke to (including delivery driver) could not have been more helpful. Thank you.

  8. Review titled Always polite and helpful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Whilst you have to be quick to get an appointment on the day - it is possible. Unfortunate on this occasion the earliest time was over a week away but at least it is booked and, having provided details of the issue, an alternative call from the duty doctor is a possibility. Really helpful staff, always polite.

  9. Review titled No improvement

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 May 2023

Impossible to get an appointment and this seems worse since combining the phone systems. Used to be 40 in the queue now 70. No opportunity to get an advance appointment, or to book online. Even the supposed econsultation is closed down before it can be accessed. Why take on more patients when existing patients cannot be seen.

Hello. We are sorry to hear that you have been struggling to get an appointment with us. You are correct in that there are now up to 70 people in the phone queue at any time and this has increased from 40. This is because we have merged our three phone lines (one for each site) into one phone number and there are now more staff members answering the phone at any one time, meaning the average call wait is also faster as the number of calls being dealt with at any one time is greater. There is a call back option running for most of the day if you are between caller 20 and 70. The majority of feedback about our new phone system has been positive but we recognise in your case you have not found this to be the case and we are sorry about that. When our E-consult capacity has been utilised, we do turn this off in order to manage the current requests in hand. Demand across the NHS in increasing for all services and practices are not able to 'close their lists' very easily. We are trying to recruit additional clinical team members and will continue doing so. We hope you will see some personal improvement in the near future.

  10. Review titled Confusing surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by David H - Posted on 12 September 2023

Have been with this lot since December 2022, having given up with my last lousy surgery. Saw one very cold and unfriendly GP in January and haven't been near the place since, except to collect my prescriptions. (Certainly not seeing her again) Still, haven't a clue of who the doctors are, what they specialise in, where they are within the 3 surgeries, or the surgery times. No patient booklets or anything. The website is pretty useless. The only plus point, is the reception staff are all very pleasant ... just wish the GP's were. Typical NHS ... No Hope Service. !!

Hello We are sorry that you haven't received a positive impression of our surgery. Our opening times etc are displayed on our website as well as the doctors details. It is very hard to comment on your individual experience without knowing who you are. Please do feel free to contact the surgery directly so we can look into the concerns you raise. Thank you
