  1. Review titled Absolutely awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Sarah Russell-Jones - Posted on 15 February 2023

After trying yet again to get a GP appointment, I’d be happy with a routine appointment, I was told after being on hold for 52 minutes from 8am that there were no on the day appointments and no routine appointments only telephone appointments for a weeks time! I’d like to know how qualified the receptionists are to be able to decide who gets a face to face appointment! I tried for 8 days in a row last October and couldn’t get anything. You couldn’t come across a less interested collection of individuals, the practice manager told me last year to go to a smaller practice in order to get an appointment!

  2. Review titled First Class

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James - Posted on 08 February 2023

The dedication by these doctors and staff is simply amazing. Over the many years I have been with Beacon Health I and my wife have had nothing but first class service. All to often in life people can be quick to complain but honestly the treatment and attention to detail we have had has been amazing. This particular practice gives outstanding service and I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Thank you so much to all the doctors and nurses and staff working tirelessly to give their best to everyone.

  3. Review titled If you have mental health issues go elsewhere

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Amy Elizabeth Baker - Posted on 02 May 2023

I have suffered with my mental health for a few years now and i am still at the same point i was when i first contacted them 3 years. Very quick to throw anti depressants at you but no real duty of care about anything else. Ended up getting my own treatment through health in mind (just as bad) and was told i am struggling with symptoms of PTSD but would need to speak to a GP to diagnosis officially. I have fought for an appointment to which the doctor said she didn't know how to diagnosis anything or how it worked and health in mind would be the people to talk to. I explained they told me to go to the GP and she just kept telling me to go back to them. Had a tiny bit of hope when she put through to the mental health team to call me back until health in mind came to me and again explained the GP needed to deal with it. I feel my mental health has declined and this GP's surgery is a big factor as to why i can't get help.

  4. Review titled Unable to book an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 December 2022

I'm reasonably healthy person and all 5 members of our family registered with this GP surgery.Unable to book an appointment even call at 8.00 am in the morning and waiting for 1 hour. This is totally unacceptable. My daughter had an ear infection and mucus drooling from her ear yet week had to wait to get a phone appointment .They are totally useless and so called surgery has three branches.I think NHS should review this practice and get a better management. We have to go to A &E to get antibiotics. So much inconvenience and it could have been a 10-15 minute appointment with a gp.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to write feedback. I am sorry for the experience you had with trying to gain an appointment. We offer an initial telephone appointment at the surgery for "on the day" requests and then if the Clinician then feels it necessary you will be asked to come to the surgery for a face to face appointment. If you would like to discuss further then please email reception.f81100@nhs.net for my attention Kind regards Cher Cooper Operations Manager

  5. Review titled Desperately concerned

Rated 1 star out of 5

Thankfully I do not yet need to have regular contact with this surgery as I am reasonably healthy for my age. However I have had two occasions this year when I have been let down by how this surgery operates. First was when I had an appointment cancelled by the surgery and was told ‘to go to A&E’ when I was not able to be given another. The manner of the Care Navigator left a lot to be desired especially as it was the surgery who cancelled my appointment and invited me to call for another. I was poorly and needed to be seen and I felt awful turning up at the hospital. I was treated very well there though. The second time I had the need to see a GP was this week when I had two consultations with a nurse (on different days) as a GP appointment could not be given to me. The nurse recommended two separate medications to be picked up later that day. Needless to say the prescription did not arrive at the Pharmacy until the next day and only one of the recommended drugs had been prescribed. It took two days to finally get the antibiotics which should have been started on the day I saw the nurse. I again and again had to chase the surgery for these (endless waiting on the phone as emails were not answered) and after them realising they had made a mistake, no one informed me that the prescription had finally been issued and sent to my pharmacy. The ‘Care Navigators’ I had contact with did not live up to their job title and I was left feeling very uncared for on both occasions causing me great stress at a time when I already felt unwell. The Operations Manager should really review procedures. I know the NHS is suffering right now but this was due to procedures and one hand not knowing what another is doing.

  6. Review titled Can’t get appointments and they don’t care.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Matt - Posted on 28 October 2022

Been trying to get an appointment for my 17 month old son. Can’t get through on the line. Then when you do there’s over 30 people in the queue. Finally you get to speak to someone and told there aren’t any appointments, try another day.

  8. Review titled Would love an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Josh - Posted on 03 October 2022

Haven't been able to get a physical appointment since covid. I've been lucky(!) enough to have a phone appointment. Medication isn't working but reception don't care, try again tomorrow with the 1000s of others. And what difference does a bad review make? None because the service is still God awful, despite having at least 2 surgeries at their disposal.

Dear Josh. Thank you for your feedback regarding the surgery. I am sorry you have not been able to obtain an appointment. The surgery has been seeing patients face to face throughout the pandemic but are aware that phone appointments do suit many patients also. We do take all complaints seriously and if you would like to write to the surgery for my attention I will look further into the issues raised Kind regards Cher Cooper Operations Manager

  9. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 October 2022

Horrendous. Despite numerous requests they only saw my father who was house bound once in last 2 years of his life. My mother spends so long on the phone trying to get an appointment, today as an example waited one hour on phone only then to be told no appointments, ring again tomorrow. She complained and then was told there was a tel appoint available in week's time. Impossible to get a face to face appointment. She was then told by the receptionist, not GP, that following a blood test she required iron tablets and to buy them over the counter, local pharmacy said no they must be prescribed by the GP in order to ensure right strength/dosage. I cannot believe how poor this surgery is and how they are allowed to continue on this basis. Impossible to contact, unwilling to meet face to face. And when you do finally get through you are quizzed by a receptionist who presumably has no medical knowledge about your condition. It is a disgrace. Their professional body should be undertaking a review of this practice, we know so many other individuals in the area who have similar stories to tell. Very very frustrating situation.

  10. Review titled Fully satisfied patient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Daryl D’Cruz - Posted on 16 September 2022

I had no problem contacting the surgery,I opted for call back which came within a reasonable time,I know I am not the only one that needs to contact the surgery. I was then asked all the relevant questions concerning my problem and I felt heard. An appointment was made for me,I had paperwork sent to my local surgery so I wouldn’t have to go to Danbury. On the day of my appointment I didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes,I was seen by a nurse(I hope I have not demoted her)extremely professional kind an put me at ease, carried out the procedure then consulted the doctor, and came back an explained what the doctor advised should be done next. I cannot fault the service and care, under the immense pressure they must be working under. Thank you to all who were involved from the start To the lovely nurse, thank you.
