  1. Review titled Parking Nightmare!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 April 2024

Inadequate parking for the public, having to go round the block several times to then resort to the Forum carpark. This made us late for our appointment. On returning to collect my relative, the parking situation was worse, cars parked all over, motorists queuing and arguing over disabled spaces etc! My relative could not walk far after their procedure (no official blue badge) so I was unable to join the queue for the disabled bays and they could not manage to walk to the Forum carpark. Even whilst waiting to collect my relative I noticed the occupied spaces were tiny, with very little space inbetween the neighbouring cars. Its great that investment in the hospital over the last few years has been increased but surely the carpark also needs significant improvements to cope with the amount of patients, staff and visitors to the hospital!

  2. Review titled First class service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went into the department in great pain on a Friday evening suffering from Urinary retention. Within minutes of arrival I was triaged and taken to a treatment room where the Nurse determined that I needed a catheter inserted. This was done within half an hour of my arrival and brought great relief. I was then seen by a very pleasant GP who advised on the next steps and arranged follow up appointments. Finally the Nurse practitioner assembled the equipment which I would need in the coming weeks and explained their operation. I cannot speak highly enough of the kindness, professionalism and care which was shown to me as a patient throughout my visit to the Friarage. The staff on duty that evening deserve the highest praise and thanks.

I can't praise the staff enough from admission to discharge I want to thank every member of staff at surgical assessment unit yesterday today. Brilliant hospital with wonderful, dedicated staff. They went out there way to make relaxed. They are very caring, and very considerate team. Every single detail was explained of what was going to happen next. It was wonderful to be treated with kindness and respect.

  6. Review titled Passionate nurses

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharon Ayling - Posted on 09 November 2023

I had an appointment this morning at the cardiology department. I was seen by two nurses who both treated me so well. I was asked lots of questions about my health and every answer I gave I was also given an explanation of why I was feeling pain. The senior nurse looked back as far as 2009 and explained so much in a way that I could understand. Every detail was explained of what will happen next and when I should contact my GP for medication and follow up reviews. I understand the pressure put upon medical staff within the NHS but I also feel that if all staff were as wonderful as these two ladies, then so many more patients would feel reassured. It would be lovely if the two nurses that took care of me could also know how wonderful they are, professional, sharing their knowledge was so helpful and also has made me feel confident that my health will improve from their advice.

  8. Review titled Really Hurtful and Upsetting

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Rebecca C - Posted on 05 October 2023

I attended because I had harmed myself. I want to preface this by saying that the nurse practitioner and support staff that helped me were absolutely lovely. They couldn’t have been kinder. The nurse practitioner felt that the wounds were serious enough that they needed stitching and sought advice from a doctor. The doctor also agreed that this was the case. But then in a discussion outside the door of the room I was in the nurse practitioner was told that they couldn’t be stitched because ‘people like me’ rip them out and make the wounds worse. This is an horrific generalisation. I was completely transparent with them as a staff as to the reasons I’d done what I’d done and that nothing like this has happened for almost two years. Had I known that I would be treated like ‘one of those people’ I would never have shared what I did. I made myself vulnerable by being completely honest and felt completely insulted by the decision made by the doctor. If this is in fact policy then I suggest it gets reviewed. In the past when this was a regular problem for me my wounds were always stitched without incident, this is the first hospital to ever say this to me. To be responded to like this was completely insulting and made an already distressing situation so much worse. I will now be left with increased scarring and where steri strips have been used to pull the wounds closed they have already begun to blister my skin because they are too tight.
