  1. Review titled Wonderful service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Buxton - Posted on 04 April 2024

I referred to today (04/04/24) with a wound on my toe. I have Peripheral Arterial Disease and received angioplasty last year. The two ladies that dealt with me were simply wonderful. I am in a lot of pain and I was treated with such care and consideration. My toe was cleaned and redressed without any awful pain and I have a check up in a week's time. The best thing is they are going to inform my consultant about the problem as my arterial disease symptoms are getting quickly worse because I can't do much walking. I am so grateful to the the ladies for their concern and ability to recognise my worries.

  2. Review titled Unnecessary attitude

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 March 2024

Last Saturday morning (15/03/24) my daughter went to Bridgwater Hospital after contacting and being referred by 111. We waited 1.5 hrs before being seen despite referral. At just before 1.5 hrs told wait would be 2.5 hrs by grumpy staff member (though this was t case) who then turned out to be person by daughter saw in A&E. No idea if she was a nurse practitioner or doctor as didn’t introduce herself. Her attitude was awful esp to a child. My daughter complained of pain and this person said I am not asking about your pain now. I will get to that later. She prodded and poked my daughter’s leg, didn’t ask her to walk or see that she was limping. Was told it is ligament damage and to rest and ice. My daughter said felt like nerve that was giving her pain and this was dismissed. Not a pleasant experience for either of us. Since then has seen a physio at school and another lovely locum doctor at Woolavington who said it is muscle related not ligament. She shouldn’t be in the job if has no bedside manner.

I attended the minor injuries department this morning. The service I received, including the treatment, was outstanding. Moreover, the hospital is incredibly clean and tidy. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for your excellence and professionalism.

  4. Review titled Physiotherapy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have had physiotherapy appointments for my back and knees. To be asked "what do you want or expect from this consultation". Hang on a minute you are the one with the expertise tell me what you can do to help me!! I got told that I needed to buy into the treatment - what does that mean exactly. My mobility is very poor. I had bariatric surgery and it failed. Quote when you feel able to exercise make an appointment within three months. Such a total waste of every ones time.

  5. Review titled Patronising terms of endearment but the care was good. ...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a very good experience at a lung clinic recently, bar one thing. An HCA who was unknown to me decided she would call me 'love'. This can be seen as patronising and condescending. To me, I just find it over familiar and inappropriate in that environment.

Thank you for your feedback, I am very glad that overall your experience was good and I am sorry that the HCA who cared for you did not correctly address you as you would wish. I will share your feedback with the clinical teams as it is a good reminder that we should always introduce ourselves and ask people what they would like to be called.

  7. Review titled really need and proper a&e in Bridgwater

Rated 1 star out of 5

Wanted emergency pain relief for sciatica. Just until after the bank holiday when I could contact my GP again. Already on meds, pain increasing to escruciating debiltitating pain. Needed help to get up and general care at this stage, I was at the point I was screaming out in pain in the night, couldnt even get to the toilet I couldn't cope over bank holiday weekend to wait another two nights until GP opened. I explained I was taking all manor of meds that I knew I shouldn't on top of prescribed meds as when in that pain you just grab anything to try to ease it. I had my box of meds beside my pillow. I was confused that staff did not want to be told doses of medication I was on. I was told it was because they are only nurses, not doctors which I did not realise.I then waited to be seen to be told they cannot precribe any thing stronger than I am on. Although the nurses were lovely there is no help they can offer other than wait until Tuesday to arrange physio to see if I could get this quicker than the appointment I already had. I thought we were encouraged to use a minor injuries unit and only use A & E in life threatening instances. Really confused and frustrated that this hospital does not offer more.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry that you were not able to be helped in Bridgwater Minor Injury Unit. In the Minor Injury Unit we have Emergency Practitioners and they assess, diagnose and treat patients. They are able to treat many conditions and give pain relief. I am sorry that they were unable to give you any medication that was stronger than your current prescription however you could have contacted the 111 service who may have been able to help you. I do hope your back is feeling better Kind Regards Hannah

  8. Review titled Amazing staff in Endoscopy department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 April 2023

I attended for an endoscopy appointment at the hospital. I was very nervous but the staff made me feel at ease. The staff were incredibly kind and caring with me when I couldn’t have one procedure done so they offered me a different one. The doctor and 2 nurses in the procedure were so helpful and supportive throughout and made me feel at ease even though I was a mess! They are an absolute asset to the NHS!

  10. Review titled I just wanted to say how impressed I am

    by Carol8763b! - Posted on 17 January 2023

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the NHS. Having paid for private Physio I got to the stage where I knew more in depth treatment was needed so went to my GP. Who sent me for X-ray - following X-ray I was sent to the Oasis center at Bridgwater hospital- following this I was sent to Cotford st Luke for a steroid injection. The whole process was flawless - the service and team were great . Follow up appointments are in place already . Everyone moans about the nhs but I only have had positive experiences
