  1. Review titled Why book appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Annoyed NHS - Posted on 16 February 2024

Why bring people in so early to be sat around for three hours, I can only assumes it’s because I am NHS, which seems to be said with a undertone by all staff, I am writing this on hour three, from my booked in time, have seen people arrive after me and go to theatre, no news, no explanation, no update. Having to take time off post operation this could have been a half day that I did not need to take off. Very disappointing.

  2. Review titled Wonderful experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mandy Cripps - Posted on 15 December 2023

From outpatients, through theatres and my ward stay everything was superb. The theatre staff were kind and gentle, the anaesthetist and surgeon gave full and clear explanations. The ward physio and nursing staff were professional and attentive. The housekeeping staff were also friendly. Having been a nurse for over 40 years, I was disappointed that I couldn’t have my operation at my hospital and was referred to New Hall but I believe my experience there was probably better than I would have received. Big shout out to all the team at New Hall!

from consultation with my surgeon, surgery and post operative care my experience was one of extreme care and total professionalism. all the staff were friendly and reassuring at all times. from the lovely cleaning staff to the nurses and physio’s my experience there was a1. my consultant was clear, concise and explained the procedure so that I was left with no doubt as to what to expect. the risks were explained as well as the positives. i felt informed and able to make the decision to go ahead with the procedure which i am happy to say has had the best result I could have wished for. my grateful thanks to everyone involved with my care.

  4. Review titled Pre op assessment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie Nash - Posted on 05 May 2023

This nurse deputy practitioner I do belive wish I could remember her name. She treated me so wonderfully, she couldn't get any veins for blood tests, she got a Dr and anesthetist who both were successful, the nurse noticed I was crying, she thought they'd hurt me,but no I was crying because they got my blood,I was so scared they would cancel my surgery otherwise as I've waited so long, the nurse was kind and sensitive, she went over all the pre op paper work, she even turned some music on to help my nerves,so thank you so much.

Hello I am sorry you felt you were delayed, our surgeons often refer to other surgeons for second opinions to ensure their decision to treat is appropriate; we know surgery isn't the answer for everyone and we don't want to a patient through surgery that is unlikely to help their individual situation. Please feel welcome to contact us directly to discuss further, either with your surgeon or the management team. Kind regards. The team at New Hall Hospital.

  6. Review titled Horrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 November 2022

Worst hospital for NHS patients. Been trying to get a colonoscopy/ endoscopy since October 2021. I've had my appointment cancelled 5 times ( only once was my fault due to having a reaction to the prep, made my so sick). They rebooked my procedure and told me i would be aloud to take tablets instead. Only to get a call a week later saying they have cancelled my procedure again and I would need too see the doctor in clinic before, for some reason they would not allow me to do it over the phone, even though it was just for a consultation no examination needed, they said I could come in on a Saturday and see him as I don't drive and the hospital is a 40 minute drive with good traffic and my husband lost out on 5 days work previously for all my appointments they cancelled so we where already £600 out of pocket for those days so we can't afford too lose anymore. so I was happy to be told I could come in on a weekend, I then get a call from the bookings team telling me Saturday are for his private patients only. The doctor himself is very rude, I've had bleeding, sickness and stomach pains to the point I couldn't eat for a week. And he told me that it's a good thing and hopefully I'll lose some weight. I then spoke too him again at a later date and told him I can't lose weight and he told me that's a lie as I'm apparently sick all the time. I always got told if you have bleeding that it's urgent and not once have I been taken seriously even when I've been throwing up blood and passing it from my bum! They 1000% prioritise their private patients before their NHS. I've been in agony for over a year and a half now whilst waiting for my appointments and I've still got no where. My doctors have now put in a new referral for another hospital and I've got to wait again! That's over a year of waiting and having my appointments cancelled and not once have they said sorry, I've just had another lady call me today telling me again that I should come in during the week ( no family close, don't drive and can't afford too lose any more money for a 10 minute appointment) then saying how it's fine that they cancelled on me 5 times and asked me why it was cancelled as if it was my fault, staff are very rude aswell. Do not make you feel welcome.

Sorry to hear about your experience. We'd be happy to investigate the issues you experienced; if you'd like to do not hesitate to contact the Hospital Director. It would be very unusual to experience so many cancellations and other issues and for this, we apologise sincerely. We wish you all the best with your onward treatment at another hospital and a speedy recovery.

  7. Review titled Excellent treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mark Braithwaite - Posted on 25 November 2022

I had a spinal cord decompression The surgeon gave me clear and concise advice on the risks and the procedures that would take place so I was fully informed. From the time I entered the hospital to when I left I was cared for and at no time did I feel anxious. There was an atmosphere of quiet efficiency and everything was explained to me. The aftercare was excellent and the staff were kind and caring. The food and accommodation were first class. The operation has been successful and has returned my quality of life. Many thanks to New Hall, the surgeon and all the staff involved.

  8. Review titled Excellent Patient Care from Start to Finish

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Clarke - Posted on 19 September 2022

I can’t fault the care that was given to me during and prior to my operation at New Hall Hospital. The staff were absolutely amazing. The surgeon was top quality. Straight talking and you knew exactly what to expect good or bad. I have had pain for years and whilst I’m still a little sore due to operation the underlying pain has gone. Words cannot thank the team enough from the admin staff to the wonderful nurses and of course one amazing surgeon - Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  10. Review titled A very reassuring visit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Don - Posted on 25 September 2022

My husband was called to New Hall Hospital following an MRI scan for a consultation with a consultant. He was nervous about the appointment but within minutes of our arrival the consultant had put both of us at our ease. He was kind, considerate, listened carefully and explained the situation very clearly in words we could understand. He set out the choices we had, explaining the pros and cons of surgery and we left feeling very happy about his advice to wait six months for a further MRI scan. Our only complaint is that it was very difficult to find where we were meant to go for the appointment. The signage at the entrance to the hospital did not mention the spinal unit, which was the wording on our letter. As my husband is disabled I needed to be able to park the car as near to the appointment venue as possible. A very kind practitioner in the first building I explored ascertained that we needed Clock House, again not mentioned in our letter. She directed us to the disabled parking spot, but because of building works and the signage being very poor I had to ask another person for help before I found a parking place near the correct part of the building. This did not help anxiety levels, but once we were inside I could not fault the people and the experience.
