  1. Review titled Service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I can’t understand why a doctor should tell me to get on with it. Medication over twelve months I was incontinent off my legs, struggled to get upstairs, light headed, had to lean on the units to cook a meal. Housebound for twelve months. Like the mad woman out of Jane Eyre. Now it’s prescriptions now that they found a tablet with no side affects. I email for repeat prescription and I can’t get that though without problems. I email a request and have to chase it up. Today same problem a week left of medication I put forward email five days later no prescription had gone to the chemist, I rang in at eight o’clock this morning giving the position I have no tablets left. Again no prescription has been sent across. So I ring again to the surgery about the prescription because the chemist had not received one. And it was still waiting to be signed off. I told the receptionist that I had waiting time to get prescription and she was trying to get me to change the chemist to one further away, being 82 that wasn’t an option, so she was quite nasty shouting down the telephone about having my bloods done, that I have just had done and have to do it again in six weeks which is marked on my calendar. Threatening me if I don’t have my bloods done they will stop my medication. What’s the problem it’s not my fault that they haven’t issued a repeat prescription and it’s not my problem that you have days to wait to get it. I didn’t make the rules. I’ve been at my practice 82 years since birth and I have never ever had problems with the doctors or staff I’ve got on really well with them. With this practice the way they respond I’m not use to it. I have done nothing wrong, medication I gave it twelve months so I thinks that’s a fair go. As for the prescription I am not in control. I dont Make the rules. And I haven’t made a mistake I would put it down to a system breakdown. Never have I been told to “ get on with it” when it’s made me ill for twelve months. And the prescription not my fault either I only email for a repeat. Threatened to withdraw medication because I’ve already had one and got another shortly as marked on my calendar. I’m 82 and I could do a better job at treating people properly

  3. Review titled Two very satisfied patients

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by B & D SALTER - Posted on 23 March 2024

We are both in our seventies and had become very disappointed with our previous GP practice: the reception staff were surly and unhelpful; there seemed to be too much reliance on locum doctors and physician associates, who did not know us, whereas in our earlier experiences with that practice we had a good ‘family doctor’ whom we got to know well before he retired. Now, on moving to the practice based at Oldbury Health Centre, we have found the receptionists to be pleasant and helpful (with a smile), and the medical attention to be excellent. In particular we are extremely grateful to one particular doctor following a recent face-to-face appointment when she saw both of us. We found her care and attention to be very reassuring. We are sorry that this practice has been the subject of so many hostile reviews by people who seem rather irrational, although we agree that the apparently national custom of asking people to ring at 8 am for an appointment is not a good one. We realise that the NHS is currently underfunded, leading to stress for the practitioners and increased anxiety for patients. We will support any parliamentary party which promises to improve this situation, to make the GP experience better for both patients and doctors.

Received a text message asking me to contact GP to discuss my recent blood test result. Felt extremely anxious. 1st available appointment is 15th March. My stress levels began to rise. Spoke to Reception staff Zarka who was so helpful and reassuring. Many thanks Zarka.

  5. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

My sister during her consultation about her painful knee was called a 'clever girl' when made to come to her own diagnosis of 'maybe wear and tear'. She was hurried through her consultation and was told to make another appointment to discuss another issue after waiting over an hour to be seen. This practice needs a CQC inspection prompt!

  6. Review titled Bookings are a disgrace

Rated 1 star out of 5

This is the third time that I spoke to someone on the phone to make an appointment. First: they did not have my appointment in their system and I waited over an hour to find that out. Second: I wanted to see a doc, they made it a triage, for 12 pm but then I got a call as I was on the waiting list. so why 12 pm? Even said so on the app. third time. I needed to speak to someone as I was in pain. I was told to wait on the day for a call and when I did not receive a call by 5 pm I called only to find out that someone would call me in 4 days.!!!!!! This was not agreed and I was not been made aware of it. What is going on with this place?

  7. Review titled Great Practise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Been with this surgery for over 15 years, and even though I have tried to use it only when necessary, the service has always been great from all members of staff. Most recent experience involved 2 GPs and both provided good advice, a prompt service and completed each and every task requested of them plus more. Could not have asked for a better and more efficient service from every member I had contact with. This included referrals to other hospitals for tests, requests for personal information and treatment for a chest injury and breathing problems.

  8. Review titled Disgrace of a surgrry

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery is useless. The receptionists and doctors are all useless. They either give up looking into your illness and just blame everything on anxiety when it obviously isn't, or you can't get an appointment because they're apparently at capacity at 8:01am. They need investigating and shutting down permanently.

  9. Review titled Receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Speaking to receptionist this morning, she was so rude, aggressive, first she couldn’t hear me, asked me to speak up,when I started speaking up , she said I was been aggressive and I was shouting and I replied you have asked me speak up, but I didn’t asked you shout she said , I replied saying you are asking me to repeat what I have already said, she turned around said I don’t want to talk you, my wife tried to talk her, receptionist put the phone down on us , this what health centre, receptionist decides who they want to talk to, receptionist want all your details, like they are the gp, they will decide if you get medication or not!
