  1. Review titled Distressing Let Down

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 April 2024

Trying to access care from this clinic is an ordeal. Trying to call up to book an appointment is met with at best an automated response saying not to book appointments over the phone and to just use the NHS app instead (which not everyone can do), and at worse being left on hold for over an hour with the most eye-twitchingly agitating automated message still telling you to hang-up and use the NHS app (which some people cannot use). I am unable to organise anything via the NHS app as I cannot access the NHS app. In order to access this app I am required to have certain ID based documentation, but due to the nature of my medical care requirements I am left with invalid ID for accessing the NHS app. When I explained this predicament to the staff they instead sent me a letter with a paper version of the same request for ID which makes me think they didn't understand the problem and thought my only issue was in trying to access the NHS app online. I have seriously been contemplating biting the bullet and going back to my old clinic and taking the 3 to 4 hour round trip just to get a service that is accessible. Just to wrap up, please give this clinic more funding to get more staff, please make the NHS app accessible to those who don't possess "valid" ID, and please allow me to call up to book appointments. I want to like Wellington Medical Centre, I really do, but it is not able to meet my needs as a patient and that is letting my health care down.

  2. Review titled Great response

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had an operation and the practice has given me great support with my recovery with re-issuing a sick note that the hospital hadn't done correctly, medications needed and also a post-operative infection. Every e-consult I carried out was answered and sorted the same day. Very impressive.

  3. Review titled Going downhill

by Abbie - Posted on 16 April 2024

My 1yo son has had persistent problems that has meant back and forth to the GP for months now. Saw someone yesterday - unsure what their qualification even was as no one said - I assumed it was an emergency doctors appointment, as I had requested. But it wasn't. Straight away I got extremely frustrated as the recurrent theme seems to be that no one can read the history before my son is seen. The first question is always "so what's bought him in today" and it is getting ridiculous how many times I have to recount what has happened and what's going on. However that is not specific to the woman he was seen by yesterday. My complaint is that he was barely triaged and immediately told us to take him to A&E as she was unable to assess and felt he needed a specialist to assess. I specifically asked if she could refer us to A&E or the specialist at Musgrove so we could be seen by the right person and not sit in A&E for hours to be triaged and she said "it's the same process either way". I asked if it would at least be on his notes and she said yes. But it wasn't even accurate when the consultant at A&E looked. So we went to A&E, and sat there for 5 hours, by which time the specialist my son needed to see had gone home. We finally saw a nurse and another consultant who had to call the on call specialist consultant. It was a simple call and assessment. But all agreed that it could have been solved hours earlier had the person we saw at the GP surgery referred in properly. So now I'm £15.50 out for musgrove car park, my son spent an unnecessary evening in A&E, I have PTSD and am triggered by hospitals - the length of exposure could have been reduced drastically. All of it could have been avoided had someone done their job properly. I feel like there are so many great doctors and most of the nurses etc are so lovely and do their best but there is a lot letting the surgery down at the same time. Specifically who we saw yesterday was just really frustrating, but also just generally I feel like there is a lack of communication and a lack of deeper consideration, which is leading to missing things and putting extra stress on patients who are having to take so much responsibility to push, fight and question and remember all the details.

I had called in after days of not even getting in the que to get an appointment! Once I had my blood taken I had asked for meds The receptionist that called me back was rude had no intention of helping me just passed me off basically because I had asked for a tablet that I know only that works for my pain spike he made me feel like I was asking for it because I like popping tablets !!! He didn’t want to help and made me feel like I was just completely making up my pain issues I really wouldn’t recommend this doctors to anyone they are half my anxiety problem it leaves me worried to even call them for help !

  6. Review titled Disappointing and inefficient

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mary McVeigh - Posted on 09 May 2023

Spent so much time waiting for return call. Was disconnected. No attempt to reconnect. Referred to pharmacy. No answer . Saw pharmacist at Luson who referred me back to See a doctot. Some, but not all of receptionists lacking in social skills, unsurprising that some patients become frustrated, angry, and abusive, particularly on behalf of children or vulnerable friends and family. Patients are often in pain and anxious and in need of sympathy and basic manners and kindness which is often lacking at your front desk and in the response of the telephone advisors, or whatever they are called. However there have been a few receptionists over the last years at the practice who have been helpful and sympathetic. People present at the surgery usually because they're not feeling well and probably worried. Not because they are on a fun outing. Perhaps the employees , and I include some of the doctors, could reflect on the nature of the service they are providing. I reminded myself of my role every day in my job as a primary school teacher and so did most of my colleagues. I am now 78 and I have never experienced such careless and uncaring attitudes as I now find in the medical services... unless of course one is in intensive care. As I understand from anecdotes. I am now in the 5th day of attempting to get a diagnosis for my problem . According to Google it might be serious, or it might not. Only a GP can decide. I'm awaiting your response. c

  7. Review titled brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kimberley - Posted on 27 January 2023

I recently moved to the wellington area hence I didn't have a GP. one of the nasty bugs was caught from school by our son and we caught it from him! my husband and my son were okay at warding off this bug but mine decided to escalate into a chest infection and and ear infection. My husband got us forms for this practice and dropped them back with a list of symptoms I listed. By that afternoon i was called and had been fast tracked due to the nasty infection and i was seen the same day by a youngish doctor who has prescribed me what seems to be the best medicine for the job. I spent over a week feeling terrible hoping for a miracle to happen but this surgery saw me quickly and gave me the right medicine for the job and i am now starting to feel better! this is a good surgery and I personally have to give credit to them!

I wouldn't even give it one star it's a disgrace I went in to check on a back injury wasn't given a doctor or examination just sat in an office with a paramedic clinition who said I may have a compressed spine and to go to a+e so went down and after having sat there for 3hrs was told that all I had was a flare up of my condition given a crutch walking and sent on my way it could of been down at the doctor's but as per usual they couldn't be bothered people are getting angry

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding our services. I am sorry to hear that you feel frustrated and let down by the practice. Unfortunately, it is difficult to to ascertain what has happened in this instance without further details, but I understand that contact has been made with you and feedback from the GP in relation to your query has been provided to you. Generally, physiotherapy and occupational therapy would be organised by the hospital treating a patient for a fracture, however if you would like me to investigate your issues further please contact the practice and I can do this. Kind regards Practice Manager
