Two recent experiences where this practice proves to be totally inadequate to provide the duty of care to its patients. I had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment to seek advice following a back complaint which has left a numbness to one leg. After finally seeing what I can only describe as possibly the scruffiest dressed doctor who also struggled to string a single sentence together, I was prescribed yoga 🧘! He then proceeded to advise general exercise for which I explained I regularly run. He then replied, I can see you don’t have a big belly but you’re nearly 50 and getting old! Amazing what a genius, so glad I contribute to his salary! The second more recent experience was my wife trying to get an appointment for our 6yr old daughter who has had a persistent cough for many weeks which is now making her physically sick. After the usual failed attempts to phone for an appointment (same experience everyone has - wait in line then all alts gone) my wife called 111. The advice given was they would send through a referral to speak to a doctor so my wife call the surgery back. No appointments available travel 30 mins to faversham walk in. They were brilliant and gave our daughter a steroid shot, inhaler and antibiotics, clearly in need of medical support. Terrible care from this hideous excuse of community medical centre Green Porch! Shame on you!

Dear Mr Brown Thank you very much for your feedback. I am Nicola Reeves, the new Practice Manager at the Green Porch Medical Centre. I am very sorry you have had a poor experience at the practice, I have taken note of your comments and concerns and I do appreciate how difficult it can be to get an appointment. This is why we signpost patients to the Faversham Urgent Care Centre. I will discuss this with the GP Partners at the practice but in the meantime if you have any further problems or concerns then please contact me. Kind regards Nicola Reeves Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Terrible, just terrible!

I don't think they actually have any doctors on site, it is impossible to see one. Phantom doctors and horrendously abrupt and rude receptionist(s). Robotic answers: no appointments available, call at 08:00, goodbye! If possible - avoid!

Dear Patient, I’m very sorry and disappointed to hear that you have had continued issues accessing our services at Green Porch Medical Centre, that you’ve found it impossible to see a doctor and have found our receptionists to be abrupt and rude. It’s a challenging time for the NHS at the moment, especially in Primary Care where demand is at an all-time high. I understand how frustrating it can be when you need to access your Primary Care Provider only to be told that there are no appointments available. This is not a problem unique to Green Porch Medical Centre and is a challenge that is being faced by the majority of Primary care Providers. Please rest assured that we are currently exploring all options to improve access to our services across the board. We are in the process of reviewing our clinical rota’s and appointment structure in an attempt to provide more choice and availability for patients. We are hoping to implement a new telecoms service which will allow us to review our data and implement changes in line with demand. We are also looking at staffing levels and are hoping, over time, to increase the size of our team to provide better access and a better service to our patients. Staff training will be of utmost importance moving forward and we would like to see reception staff able to provide clear advice, whether on the telephone or in person, in relation to appointment availability and options for patients should we not have a suitable appointment available at that time. These changes will take time and we are not necessarily able to implement these changes all at once, however, please know that the team here at Green Porch are hearing and listening to patient concerns and are actively working to address and rectify those concerns where possible. If you wish to discuss the matter further or have any additional points to raise please feel free to contact me directly at callum.mcque@nhs.net Your sincerely, Callum McQue Practice Manager Green Porch Medical Centre

Literally impossible to get an appointment. You can't get them in advance, you have to call at 8am to get an appointment the same day. There is technically an online system to get appointments, but it does not work. There is no queuing system when you call, you just have to keep calling until someone picks up. I started calling at 8am on the dot, and called 42 times before I got through at 8:20am. By then, all the appointments were gone. I have applied to transfer to a different GP because of this, as I have attempted to get an appointment for two weeks.

Dear Olivia Thank you very much for your feedback. I am very sorry you have been unable to get an appointment at the practice. We now have a new telephone system which enables patients to wait in a queue when calling at 8am with a facility for a patient to have a call back if requested. We do appreciate how difficult it can be for a patient to get an appointment and I will share your feedback with the practice staff. Kind regards Nicola Reeves Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Appalling surgery and receptionists

I need an urgent MRI scan as I’ve had an accident and sittingbourne memorial are requesting it urgently, but they need the doctors to approve it This is where the back log starts in the process This is a recurring injury from 3 years ago when the doctor refused it then for 8 months, when after I got an MRI through a different system I needed an emergency operation as I had torn my tendon, fractured my elbow which eventually healed itself and smashed my cartilage in my elbow Well the memorial hospital thinks I’ve done the same again at work, They said I need to contact my doctor for approval I left the memorial and went straight to the doctors Well The place was totally empty, only 3 very rude receptionists who totally ignored what I was saying and gave me a tatty peice of paper with a date on it for nearly 4 weeks later, when I asked what it was, they just burst out laughing saying doctor don’t see anyone anymore only phone calls, when I tried to explain it was urgent, they just laughed and said best they can do 3 receptionists and no work, no wonder the nhs is in trouble Anyway, the doctor phoned today, but my house not my mobile and spoke to my daughter I immediately phoned the surgery when I found out and they said I have to rebook my missed appointment This place is a complete joke and run by idiots that are still hiding behind closed doors even though covid is over I find it a total disgrace that even though the hospital has tried to get the process going with the doctors, they don’t give a damn and are even ignoring them as well, This place really needs investigation if the authorities have got the testies to do it So it looks like a trip to hospital to block up there A&E , all due to there lazy doctors Avoid joining this place I’m looking elsewhere now for a decent surgery

You can just as well not have a surgery. When you ring them up they never have a space even if your child is very ill. And then when you do get an appointment you hear the doctor say to the receptionist that it will need to go quick as he wants to go home. In the 3,5 years that I have been with this surgery I have managed to make 1 (awful) appointment.

The WaitLess app can help patients who have decided to go to a UTC or MIU make an informed choice about which site to visit. It displays the number of people waiting and the longest waiting times, along with travel information, so patients can decide to visit a site that is not so busy. Although this is not a solution for the issue of access, these centres are there to provide support to patients who find their GP practices do not have suitable appointments. You never see the same doctor, your appointments constantly get cancelled if you manage to get one. The staff at reception are so rude. They deny having any records of your health whilst prescribing you medication for it for 10 years. It really should be shut down. All you have to do is look at Sittingbourne gossip board to understand how bad this place has become.

This is so sad but l have now decided to leave this practice as l feel my health and well-being are in danger . I have waited over 120 hours for a prescription only to keep being told it’s not been signed off,so l have been with out medication that l take on a regular bases . Staff just don’t seem to care they just want to get rid of you when you go in there there’s no concern from them about your well being all l hear when l go in there is sorry no Apointments please phone at 8 o clock but they don’t say but all the Apointments will be gone if there are any as it’s now 10.30 because that’s how long it’s taken to get through . I think it’s the worse surgery in sittingbourne and in my option should be closed bad management bad staffing .never a doctor in sight or a nurse appalling service, this is the opinion of lots of people .how it’s still being aloud to run l don’t no . So if anybody is thinking of joining don’t bother very bad service .

  10. Review titled Unprofessional/ never get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2022

I have never been able to see GP ever since I registered with the surgery. Imagine getting through on phone one day at 8:03hrs and they said they are already full without even listening to you. No customer service from the receptionist. I walked down again another day to meet up at 8:am and it was the same excuse that some of the staff are sick and they don't have anyone to attend to patients the most annoying thing was how the receptionist related to you so unprofessional no appointments were available. It is impossible to get through and once you do there are never any appointments available. This is so frustrating and disappointing. If people have their ways they should avoid this kind of surgery. I am a healthcare worker and I know how passionate I am about my patients. Even if there is workload I communicate effectively. The receptionist are so arrogant. I don't want to generalize to all staff because I have not been able to their nurses or GP. However, they are services are so poor.
