I have been visiting the practice with concerns about my newborn. I felt like, particularly by a male doctor, I wasn’t being heard nor believed while me and my first baby were experience such a bad time at home. I am aware GPs are not paediatricians and don’t suppose to be trained to diagnose not visible symptoms. Although it was shocking to realise that he had no knowledge about some basic and common problems in babies like silent reflux or NHS tongue tie procedures. There was a completely lack of empathy and the diagnosis after every visit was that I was an over-worried first time mum who had to hit harder my baby to burp and listen to less opinions including concerns by qualified paediatricians while making ‘funny’ (close to racist) comments about other communities and nationalities. He also encouraged me to give up breastfeeding and change to formula as soon as I mentioned the troubles I was experiencing. Something funny when all NHS professionals I have come across during my pregnancy (midwifes, obstetricians, health visitors…) give breastfeeding and tremendous importance, priority and something to really fight for. It’s absolutely useless, a waste of time and awfully discouraging being treated my this male doctor.

A practice that has used COVID as an excuse not to see anyone even in 2023. Receptionists who think they are qualified to make clinical decisions. A couple of receptionists require oversight of a manager due to their treatment of patients. Why the surgery is accepting new patients when there is a 3-4 week wait for routine appointments I fail to understand. Used to be a lovely surgery, such a shame.
