  1. Review titled Efficient and considerate

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Mrs S - Posted on 08 April 2024

I recently had surgery and had to contact the GP after due to concerns of a sensitive nature unknown initially whether or not it was linked to the surgical procedure. I was in pain and vulnerable when I called the doctor’s surgery and got the option to keep my place in the queue and be called back. 10 minutes later a receptionist called and I explained my difficult situation to her. I had dealt with a doctor who was most unprofessional and this had made me feel even more vulnerable. The receptionist was fantastic, she was patient, compassionate and supportive. She said I’d need to complete an eConsult however on hearing the distress in my voice she proceeded to complete it with me over the phone. I was exhausted as I’d not slept after my operation and was in so much pain and discomfort, this was a genuinely compassionate decision for her to make and she carried out the task with sensitivity and kindness. Once completed and submitted I received a callback from a wonderful GP 40 later who was also very compassionate & reassuring. She carried out a thorough consultation, answered all my questions, eased my mind & prescribed the appropriate medication which was delivered the following morning. Exceptional care by the receptionist and GP, thank you.

  2. Review titled Good eConsult experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 January 2024

I have used the eConsult service a few times and have always had a positive experience. Following my most recent experience I thought I would take the time to leave a review. I really needed to see a GP and was able to do so without hassle or delay. I completed an eConsult in the morning before 9am. I received a call from the surgery receptionist within an hour and they scheduled a same day face to face appointment with a GP for me. With the surgery having staff that operate across multiple sites, two of which have on site parking available, it was easy to schedule an appointment at a time and location that suited me. The GP undertook a thorough assessment and I was prescribed the necessary medication.

  3. Review titled Terrible place

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 September 2023

Recently filled in e-consult. Got a text message a week later asking to book blood test. No spaces to get blood test until more than a week later. Took time off work to get blood test. Heard nothing for 2 weeks. Went on the app to see results on there - however meant nothing to me. Called up surgery was on hold for one hour - spoke to receptionists who said results fine then hung up. I don’t even know what the blood test was checking. Terrible place they just don’t care.

  4. Review titled Obtuse receptionists and poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 August 2023

Following two unsuccessful e consult attempts we visited the surgery to try and make an appointment but it seems the doctors are reluctant to see patients these days. So we find ourselves in a catch 22 situation. The receptionist was obtuse and defensive and then proceeded to discuss the medical issue in a loud voice at the desk whilst other patients were listening. This GP surgery is an utter waste of tax payers money. No wonder the NHS is in such a mess.

  5. Review titled Exceptional Nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by C Sweeney - Posted on 31 August 2023

I’ve been a patient at South Street for 16 years and always found the team competent and the care level brilliant, this evening’s appointment experience was another level, no waiting, in and out I felt seen, heard and respected. I had my smear with one of the Practice Nurses and I have to say she was truly exceptional. I have a difficult history which she completely understood and treated me with respect and compassion. She carried out the procedure in the most competent and gentle manner possible considering my trauma. This is always a difficult and usually very triggering process for me and this was by far the least least triggering one I have ever had done in any setting. Respect and sincere thanks to her, she is a true professional and a credit to the Surgery.

  6. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 September 2023

I phoned for a doctor's appointment and received a three minute telephone consultation and a prescription for a five day course of antibiotics. These tablets did not assist with my symptoms at all. I phoned and tried to make a face to face appointment, originally the receptionist tried to give me another telephone appointment. I refused and explained my position. Eventually I received a call offering me a face to face appointment one week later. I was told there was no other appointments and therefore, accepted the appointment I was given. I felt too ill to wait a further week without any medication and made an appointment with a private doctor. She gave me a longer course of different antibiotics and I started to show improvement the day before my GP appointment. I kept my GP appointment as the private doctor felt I also had another medical issue that required attention. The GP I saw made some negative remarks regarding me undertaking the private appointment even though I stated I could not wait a week for this appointment. Additionally, this GP gave me entirely incorrect information with regards to the x ray department at Herts and Essex Hospital. I would like to add that I have been with this surgery for over 40 years and have only seen a decline in services, particularly with regards to the customer service of some receptionists, since the surgery chose to use the e consultancy and telephone appointment system. Before this I was very happy with the surgery. Other surgeries in the town, and over the country do not appear to use this method and the majority of my family and friends receive a lot better service with regards to being able to see a doctor face to face.

  7. Review titled Unable to book to see the GP

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 July 2023

Called up the medical centre, waited on the phone line for until 8:45am approx, the centre opening time from 8am. There were 9 callers waiting in the phone line in front of me. By the time it reaches and able to speak with the receptionist, I can't book the GP appointment due to I didn't call at 8am in the morning on the same day. Well, if you do a quick maths 9 people in front of me and each take approx 5 mins with you on the call, of course will not be able to speak with you at 8am and that's wasted 45 mins waiting time. So I don't see why that is a case not able to book for the GP appointment. This centre is not helpful when you ever trying to get to see the GP, especially the same day booking. Considering today is Thursday they close later than usual days. It happened before that if you want to see the GP appointment can be make in a week time which usually that case.

  8. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Gemma - Posted on 11 April 2023

The reception apologised and said she weren’t having a go but it sure felt like it. Complaining to me I shouldn’t be phoning up for prescriptions because they are really busy and now I have created a lot of work for everyone else. They shouldn’t be putting that on patients. I explained I wasn’t aware my son’s medication was on repeat prescription. The surgery was closed over Easter so I couldn’t sort out medication. Didn’t think we would need medication. It is suppose to be reviewed after every prescription which is why I didn’t think it was on repeat prescription. Being a single parent to a child disabilities is hard enough without the surgery putting their problems into me.

  9. Review titled Great practice but...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jitesh Patel - Posted on 28 April 2023

Drive for a living so took time off work for phone consultation appointment. When no one had called...I proceeded to surgery where no explanation was forthcoming. Was told a doctor would call me sometime today! Some appointment service. I asked if I could see a doctor and receptionist said she would call and let me know. Normally I have an excellent service from South Street surgery however today has been a bit below par.
