  1. Review titled Unhelpful nurse at appointment for child

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 March 2024

My child had an appointment today regarding medication he is on. He became unwell yesterday after a cough this week so instead of making another appointment I thought I would save everyone’s time (considering how understaffed the nhs is currently) and wait until his appointment today I ask them to check his chest as he has a chesty cough. The nurse said ‘No’ she would not check his chest as the appointment was regarding a repeat prescription. My child is Asthmatic!! and has a very chesty cough. Her refusal to check him now lead to a 1 hour wait on 111 and an emergency appointment at a walk in centre 40 minutes away from where we live at 8pm at night! The appointment today was no more than 5 minutes long. A quick check of his chest would have not only been the ethical thing to do but also save 111 time and an unwell child waiting hours to be seen! Absolutely not the kind of caring attitude a so called nurse should have..

  2. Review titled Excellent Practise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David - Posted on 04 January 2024

We transferred to this practice recently and are so impressed by how well managed it is. The online triage system worked really well and after following the initial advice we were given a prompt follow up appointment. The receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly and arranged for my son to be seen by the nurse within 24 hours. The nurse was very thorough and was able to sort us out with advice and a prescription which could be immediately picked up at the adjacent pharmacy. Having been registered at a different practice before where none of this would have happened we are so happy to have found somewhere which provides such a brilliant service. Thank you to all staff.

  3. Review titled Never any appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mr Mains - Posted on 02 January 2024

I have been a patient at this surgery for approximately 10 years luckily enough I don’t often frequent the practice but my problem is there is never ever an appointment you can book on the day it is just horrendous and why are they still taking on new patients to the surgery when they can’t handle the amount that are already on their books. I phoned up to ask about getting an appointment for a regular PSA level check and when I said to the receptionist I must be due as it’s got to have been almost a year now she actually informed it was 18 months so I was 6 months passed my test date no reminder no email no nothing so I was then sent to Bedford 3 days later for a blood test. But it gets better I wasn’t aware until I spent 25 minutes on my mobile trying to speak to the receptionist only to be told that I now have to go online and fill in their online form in and once submitted it would be checked and then I’m assuming after you have done a self diagnosis of yourself they then get back to you so I filled the form in for something that was making me worried for my health as it could be something serious and that’s obvious why I’m contacting the doctor but I couldn’t believe it when I got a reply via SMS Text message telling me (Surprise Surprise) that there were no appointments left today so they suggested i contact 111 or visit a walk in centre. Who on earth ever thought of this pathetic Online booking appointment system. Not everyone has access to the internet or are computer literate and also if you feel that bad who on earth wants to go online and have the energy or concentration to fill this form in.I am fully aware of the pressures that are being but on our NHS at this moment in time but this system is awful get rid of it. I don’t find the staff to bad and the doctors are nice it’s just the whole set up it’s dreadful, it’s almost like there isn’t an answer to the known problems at the surgery so we will implement this awful system. Is this system being implemented by the government?

  4. Review titled Great team

Needed to phone surgery re BP. Didn't have to wait long. Receptionist was very helpful and courteous. She contacted the duty GP for the day to aid my enquiry. The GP was great. He asked a few questions and was happy with responses. I felt very relieved at the end of the consultation. Thank you Shefford Health Centre.

  6. Review titled Most satisfied

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Susan Whittaker - Posted on 28 December 2022

I have nothing but praise for this Surgery I have throughout my time with this Practice nothing but admiration for the helpful and courteous manner the receptionist have reacted to me both on the phone and face to face. At all times they have treated me and my request for an appointment or if I needed it, help with getting a prescription in an emergency, with a very tolerant and kind manner and have always managed to slot me in however busy they have been Today, although a GP appointment wasn’t available, they managed to get me in to see a delightful Practice Nurse who again was kind, most helpful and very understanding of my health issue and able to take things further for me. Whenever I have seen one of the GP’s they again have been what I require from a GP Kind, understanding and most efficient Thank you all so very much Susan Whittaker

  8. Review titled awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

They never answer the phone, if the phone is answered there are never any appointments, I went there in person to make an appointment, I was told I cannot make an appointment in person I have to phone up (What!). Tried to do it online, no appointments. What an absolute farce, beyond incompetence. I'm going to register at a different health centre

  9. Review titled Are people dying because of this awful surgery?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 November 2022

In a country where we legally are entitled to access an appointment with a GP, it appears this surgery has a system that makes it absolutely impossible to get an appointment. Reception only has 1 answer… no appointments now or on the future..can’t do anything. They are a 100% closed door. The online system opens at 8am. But the second second it appears it already has no appointments. How is this even possible? Is it rigged to prevent appointments being made? Is this surgery failing it’s legal obligations and patient duty if care? Are patients left in danger or actually dying because it is impossible for them to get an appointment? This surgery is not delivering and beyond needing urgent attention.

  10. Review titled Had Chest pains and couldn't get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 August 2022

Had chest pains last week and couldn't get an appointment. Went to A&E who suspected a heart attack and within a day had an ECG, Echocardiogram, X-Ray and Angiogram along with required medication. If I'd waited for an appointment as the receptionist suggested and it was a heart attack I could have died. The surgery is not fit for purpose.
