  1. Review titled Struggling with new system

    by Bella1314 - Posted on 28 August 2023

I have been trying to use this new system, KLINIK, for two days and never felt so frustrated! I only wanted to make an appointment with a nurse for a blood test. There were so many questions to answer, and was told to ring 111 or 999? Tried again, and I just couldn't do it. I'm not stupid, but this has got the better of me, and I broke down in tears and gave up! I should have said that I have ordered my prescription online for years, went to sign in, and usually my username and password comes up automatically, it didn't this time and I haven't got it written down, so had to sign in as a new patient. Still couldn't find my way through this awful new system! Well then a different patient's name appeared on my screen with their medication list! Couldn't find my own, though! I will have to go into the surgery every time I want to make an appointment and drop off my prescription form. I'm not so daft - I do my shopping online, pay bills, online, banking, well everything. I don't think this is progress.

  2. Review titled Fantastic Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carly lucken - Posted on 11 August 2023

Absolutely amazing doctor’s surgery. Not the first time I have contacted them worried about my toddler on a Friday afternoon and each time he is seen that afternoon so that I do not need to worry all weekend. I feel safe that my family are looked after and every member of staff I have encountered in the 7 years I have been a patient have been lovely, kind and caring. I cannot fault it.

  3. Review titled Confidentiality

Rated 2 stars out of 5

The reception area provides no confidentiality. It echoes, and everyone can hear exactly who you are and what your problem is. I was informed by the receptionist that there are signs saying that if you want to speak privately to let them know (she did say that they are amongst the masses of information on the board), but they are not visible, and not within sight when speaking to the receptionist. I tried to speak to someone else in the waiting room in order not to hear what was being said, but the patient speaking to the receptionist could not hear her. Confidentiality is an essential requirement, and is not evident here. Perhaps receptionists could ask patients at the start of the conversation if they need to speak confidentially as I'm sure that many patients will have missed that sign. It needs to be visible and in front of the reception window.

  5. Review titled Doctors generally very good at mental health

    by indigogj98 - Posted on 21 April 2023

I’ve got a long term mental health condition, and have seen various doctors at the Spinney Surgery over the last 6 months. They’ve all been very compassionate and helpful, even when I’ve presented in a bit of a state on occasion (angry, upset and suicidal). The only slight problems have been: 1. They can be hard to get hold of by phone: expect 1/2 hour wait before your call is answered. The new web-based appointments system seems to be working very well, though, and avoids any waits. 2. It’s hard to get scheduled appointments. 3. I’ve ended up seeing a range of different doctors on urgent appointments, rather than “my” GP, so continuity of care can be tricky. 4. One doctor said they had gone as far as they could, as GPs, which I took to mean not to go come back with this problem. I may be being over-sensitive, though. The other medical staff and admin/practice management staff are all efficient and friendly. Overall, I’ve been really impressed by them and have been grateful for their help.

  6. Review titled Outstanding Practice!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My parents have recently registered with The Spinney following relocation to this area. I cannot applaud the professionalism and support they, and us as their family, have received from receptionists, office staff, nurses and doctors alike. Their empathy and care has been inspiring. It is so refreshing to be responded to in a timely, respected and dignified manner. Spinney Surgery, we cannot thank enough. Keep up the good work and have a well deserved Christmas and New Year break!

  8. Review titled Signing form for cancer prescription

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gav - Posted on 07 August 2022

After unfortunately receiving a cancer diagnosis I took a single piece of filled in nhs paperwork to the Spinney for signing and posting to another nhs department. After this form failed to arrive, I completed a second at the Spinney explained the issue to the Dep Manager, and asked would they let me know when the form was completed to enable me to track it. I was informed I would get a text or phone call. That was on Thursday. On Friday morning, after waiting on hold for 35 minutes, so quick by the Spinney standards, I was told my form was still sat unsigned in an intray and would be done whenever the GP had time. I visited the surgery 10 minutes before the closing time of six. The surgery was quiet, and the staff were unable to confirm either the location of my form or if it had been sent. To sum, an average practice before being diagnosed with cancer who have become my biggest stressor since my diagnosis, who don’t keep patients informed, who are so busy that the GP can’t take a minute to sign a form , but can get out early on a Friday. Nowt more to say.

  9. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 August 2022

A member of the surgery team proposed a telephone call at 4pm. As at 9 pm the telephone call has not happened. I don’t know the details of this call, but hope it is not serious. This lack of communication is not really acceptable, as I had left work an hour early so I would be available to take a telephone call from the surgery at 4pm. I will no doubt have to spend considerable time on the telephone tomorrow listening to the you are : caller 14, you are caller 13, etc, or take further time of work to attempt to find out the details. My quick potential solution: you say you will call at 4pm, call as near to 4pm as possible, but even if late just call, email, text or rearrange. Thanks

  10. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am here at past 6pm, typing this review. I missed an unexpected telephone call from the Dep Practice Manager at 11am; however, my wife took the call, explained that I was at work, but would be back in the late afternoon. The Dep Practice Manager proposed a telephone call at 4pm. My wife let me know of this over lunch. As such, I left work an hour early so I would be available to take a telephone call from the Dep Practice Manager at 4pm. This phone call did not come. I have only scant details that were mentioned to my wife and will no doubt have to spend considerable time on the telephone tomorrow listening to the you are : caller 14, you are caller 13, etc, or take further time of work to attempt to find out the full details. Two quick solutions: 1. Have a direct dial option to the Dep Manager vice the standard line. 2. If you agreed to call at 4pm, call as near to 4pm as possible, but even if late just call, email, text or rearrange. Thanks
