  1. Review titled No change!

Having received multiple letters from the practice which do not make anything clear, I have tried to see a GP to discuss my clinical management. Yet again, there is no means of booking a face to face appointment ahead of the day. I have agreed to accept a phone call consultation from an 'Extended hours' GP service. I am hopeful that the matter will be resolved albeit by a clinician who I have never met (but this is no different to Hawthorn). This proves that even though the CQC reports from 2023/4 have found some improvements after being placed in 'Special Measures', the accessibility has not been one of them. I remain deeply concerned that if I need to see a GP for a serious matter, I will not be able to do this. I have recently had to resort to see a private consultant as I have no faith at all in the current service provision. I'm sure there are many satisfied patients, but please Hawthorn, why do you make me feel so frustrated every time I have any form of communication with you. Use the 'Family & Friends' test...would you like your relatives to be treated in this way?? I suspect not!

  2. Review titled Great Doctor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

One Doctor in particular has been treating my husband with help and kindness. He has helped him over and above what we might have expected. The rececptionists have always been helpful and efficient. The service for the Covid was also excellent. Times I never thought I would praise the Hawthorn and some doctors are still found “wanting “but some seem to be improving the poor image..

Thank you for your review. It is very much appreciated when our patients take the time to post positive comments and is helpful for morale and staff retention. Thank you

  3. Review titled Inaccessible and unacceptable

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been waiting for a doctors report for a month. I have chased the matter meaning several trips into Skegness as the phone system is a joke-it took over an hour to get through. The majority of reception staff are arrogant and indifferent. The GPs I have come into contact with are patronising and make you feel rushed. Even when you make a formal complaint through the correct procedure, you are not made to feel as if they take your comments seriously-if you do get a response at all. As a Healthcare professional myself, I recognise the enormous pressures facing the NHS, but I do not believe COVID, patient population demographics nor staff issues account for the wholly ineffective and unacceptable standard of care they currently provide. It makes me extremely concerned about the future when I might need to see a GP.

Medical reports are not part of the practice's NHS contract and are treated as private work. This means that it is a separate workstream and the reports have to be completed by the doctors outside of their NHS work. For this reason we always advise that work may take up to six weeks to complete. In order to help ensure that private work doesn't impact on our NHS work, the recorded message on our telephone system details the email address for the Admin staff member who deals with requests for non NHS work.

  4. Review titled No longer care about their patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

The problem is that since Lockdown they just don't care. It is useless having to phone on the day to get an appointment. There is no way to get in touch if there is an urgent problem. You can't ask to talk to a specific GP. Phone appointments are a very poor substitute for seeing a patient - at one time doctors valued all their senses to diagnose, not just relying on what a patient said. It makes me question now they used to see patients and now find it impossible.
