Get active as a family with "Let's Move!"
Being active is an important part of helping your child feel happier and healthier.
You do not need lots of time, space or expensive equipment to do this. Starting with just 10 minutes can make a difference, and small amounts of movement all add up.
"Let's Move!" is here to help you and your family find simple, fun ways to move more together every day.
How much activity does my child need each day?
On average, children and young people should aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day across the week.
This may sound like a lot, especially when family life is busy, but it does not need to happen all at once.
You can break it up throughout the day, starting with just 10 minutes at a time.
Joe Wicks' top tips for getting kids moving (and loving it!)
Getting kids moving doesn't have to be perfect – it just has to be playful – and it can be done in short bursts.
Whatever your kid's needs or abilities, there's a way of moving that they'll love, and that can easily fit into your day.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Make movement fun indoors
Turn everyday tasks into games – race to tidy up, dance together in the kitchen while dinner's cooking, or try a quick online workout like 'Activate'.
Movement doesn't need to look like "exercise", it just needs to be fun!
Get outside when you can
On cold days, a quick game of tag or a trip to the local park can warm everyone up and kids see it as fun, not a chore. So, wrap up and get out there!
But if it’s too wet and windy outside, there are lots of activities, games and exercises that can be done indoors.
Sneak exercise into the school run
Walk, wheel, scoot or cycle together to school to sneak exercise into your daily routine.
You can make it playful by counting dogs, racing to lampposts, or letting your kids invent a challenge to keep it fun!
Don't worry about getting it right
You don't need to be a pro before you join in with your kids! Moving together is what it's all about.
Give things like frisbee, swimming, stretching or cycling a go, and let them see you wobble, make mistakes and keep smiling.
Having a go and enjoying yourselves is what really matters!
