Overview

LWT Front

LWT Dental Care is a long established, family dental practice, based on the busy Ecclesall Road, in Sheffield. Founded by Mr Roy Taylor, the practice has been operating from its current site since the early 1950s. Currently, we have three Principal Dentists, Mr Russell Taylor, Mr Andrew Tootell, and Mr Richard Brogden. Since it's establishment, LWT has always prided itself on providing quality care for the local community and during its existence, has developed a reputation for providing tailored care for all.

The current partnership has been in business since April 2013, and is committed to practice development, and more recently the incorporation of the Postgraduate department's Foundation Dentistry programme. We see that this involvement provides a springboard for clinical excellence and education. Our trainees are with us for a one year training programme, and leave us as confident and capable clinicians, able to tackle all clinical situations.

Currently, we also have working with us two Associate Practitioners, Miss Chasheeka Mariathas and Mrs Sharon Sall, as well as our Oral Health Care Dentist, Mrs Sarah Konopka. All of our associate staff are committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients.

**IMPORTANT SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - COVID-19**

Service Update

**IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE, PLEASE READ**
Dear patients,
We sent you an email yesterday updating you about the current situation. At that time, we were still unable to see patients face-to-face. However, many of you will have read or seen the Government’s announcement yesterday evening that dental practices may be able to re-open, and start to see patients from June 8th. This announcement was a surprise to the entire dental profession, and it was not until this morning that we were officially informed by NHS England that this is to be the case.
We are sorry if the sudden change in information sent to you by us has therefore caused any confusion, but as mentioned the timing was unknown to us. That said, we are very pleased to hear that we will finally be ale to see patients and help those in need of urgent dental care, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Please note, however, that the opening of the practice will have to be phased, and will only be possible once all necessary precautions and measures are in place to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff. We are still awaiting further guidance and information from NHS England regarding exactly how dental provision should be provided, in the best way during this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Procurement of the heightened level of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required, and unfortunately there is still a chronic shortage of this available for Primary General Dental practices, as this is predominantly being allocated to front-line hospital staff. We have taken several measures already to help us to be ready for re-opening, but staff training in new protocols (yet to be determined my NHS England) will also be required, and adaptation to the setup of the practice will all have to take place prior to opening, to see patients. This may all take some time.
When we do open, appointments will be by prior arrangement, and we therefore kindly ask that patients do not attend unless an appointment has been confirmed. We will be prioritising patients who have had dental emergencies, those in need of urgent dental care, those who have had previous treatments cancelled due to COVID-19, and then those of greatest need. We therefore kindly ask that patients also don’t contact the practice unless they are having pain, or are worried about any other urgent dental need. New procedures and restrictions will mean that we will only be able to see patients in a much reduced capacity, and so we are unfortunately not expecting to be able to offer routine examinations and treatments for quite some time yet. For patients who have had problems that have already been in contact over the last few weeks, please be reassured that we be contacting you once we are able to offer you an appointment.
We thank you all for your patience during this difficult time and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
