I arrived at the Pharmacy at around 0855hrs on Saturday 28th May 2022, despite the opening hours stipulated to be 0900hrs, the gates did not open until 0913hrs. Once we entered the premises, I heard a member of staff blowing out 'we are short of staff hence the delay in opening this morning' My GP sent through a prescription to the Pharmacy on Thursday 26th May 2022, on Saturday, the prescription was not made available. Given i had other commitments on the day, I had to leave without my prescription. My concern around patients confidentiality, is a significant one, I am most concerned that someone can shout from the back counter (where the computer is sited), 'can I help anyone, Whats your D.O.B, and your address' i am particularly unhappy with this as there are significant issues around respecting peoples confidentiality and dignity. I would like to see a change, although i will not be going back to that pharmacy, I will ask my GP to change my preferred pharmacy. I think people's confidentially should be respected and also the issues around fraud is rife, this should be at the forefront of the business, therefore it would be great if this could be looked into at some stage in the immediate future.

Good morning, I am very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service you have received from one our branches. Since the beginning of the pandemic, community pharmacies have seen a huge increase in their workloads which can sometimes cause delays. We do usually aim to have a prescription dispensed within twenty-four hours; I am sorry that this was not the case in this situation. Since health care professionals are still required to isolate following a positive COVID-19 test our teams are also often affected by staff shortages. Again, I am sorry that the branch was late opening, this is not our usual practice however cannot always be avoided. We are always conscious of patient confidentiality and would not expect a patient to provide information they are not happy with. I do agree that in this case the member of staff could of asked more subtly. I will forward your concerns onto the branch manager who will discuss with their team how we can better deal with these situations going forward.
