    Referred to A&E by my doctor for investigation.All the staff were excellent, but a special mention to the doctor, due to his knowledge & diligence he installed a further rapid investigation at the Freeman,for that I am deeply grateful.A special mention to the nurses who volunteered to staff the c.t. scanner at that w/end,I am sure I am not the only one who benifitted.Thank you RVI and god bless you.

    I would not recommend to any family or friends to be looked after here in general. On my last Children services visit an healthcare smelled strongly of body odour. She had to measure my child and weigh. I'd expect someone working in a paediatric setting to have minimal standards of hygiene.

    Was referred immediately by my GP and was dreading going due to horror stories of A&E in the media. Turned up at 8.30am on a Tuesday, less than 20 persons waiting, Staff friendly, Place clean and was given clear instructions of the A&E consultation process. Took my turn and was seen within 1hr and results within two. Top work and excellent.... It makes want to be ill so I can visits again :)

    From first appointment through to diagnosis and ongoing, long term treatment, the IBD team at the RVI have been an absolute blessing. Cannot fault any element of the care I have received through a very difficult and worrying time. IBD Nurses are responsive, easy to contact and so patient and caring, and my consultant has been equally caring, professional, thorough and reassuring. All involved in my care truly deserve every recognition and praise, they are a credit to the RVI. Thank you!

    I had a very traumatic birth experience which was nobody’s fault, the RVI were great when it was an emergency situation and I will forever be grateful for them saving both mine and my baby’s lives, however that doesn’t hide the fact that some strange decisions were made on the day. When I arrived at the maternity assessment experiencing strong contractions, I expected I was at about 4 centimetres dilated for the level of pain I was in but after being checked over I was only at 1 centimetre. They checked my blood pressure, heart and baby’s heart and everything came back fine, however I was so hot that I was taking my clothes off in the room and screaming in pain which definitely isn’t normal for only being slightly dilated. The midwife there told me that my options were to go and walk around downstairs (with everyone watching me scream) or go home and have a bath and take two paracetamol. I feel at this point this is where my problems began as I think I should have been kept in because something clearly wasn’t right and my labour wasn’t progressing in the way that it should have been but because I felt like I didn’t have much choice, I decided to go home. We just about made it home and I wasn’t getting a break in between contractions, we decided to go straight back to the RVI when I collapsed on the stairs and we had to call an ambulance. I was then blue lighted to the hospital, I feel all of this could have been avoided had they just kept me in the first time around. After many hours of labour they then decided to do the emergency c-section when labour wasn’t progressing very well, at no point was anyone explaining things properly to me or reassuring me. I feel in these situations, especially if it turns into an emergency, there should be one member of staff dedicated to staying with the patient to reassure and explain everything to them. Fast forward to my aftercare and that was none existent, my husband wasn’t allowed to stay with me so I had to take care of a screaming newborn on my own when I still couldn’t walk or move properly due to the c-section, I was in a lot of pain and I just like I was a hindrance. I pressed the button by my bed and someone would always come but sometimes they’d say, “yes I’ll come back and help” and it would be two hours later when they finally came back. On my first trip to the toilet after the c-section I was left completely on my own, I was given just one pad and one pair of knickers. I was unable to breastfeed because my son just wouldn’t latch on and they kept saying they would come back to help and support me but they were so short staffed that they simply didn’t have time to help me and so despite having lots of milk and desperately wanting to breastfeed, I was left unable to. Even once I got home the community midwives came out to see me and I told them I was really struggling with breastfeeding and still no one helped me. I am now left with severe birth trauma and feeling confused, frustrated and angry.

    The look of the pharmacy is awful. Staff are borderline rude and unable to give estimates for prescriptions or wait times despite waiting over 2 hours for a repeat prescription. Car park tickets free for 20 mins but ended up paying for 2 hours. Pharmacy were unable and unwilling to help transfer the prescription to a more convenient location.

    Refused to let me speak to my gynecologist for my appointment after I waited 15 mins for his call. Fobbed off no other appointment available for some time. Will have to wait weeks for another appointment.

    Staff have no compassion when it comes to dealing with anyone with dementia and just shouts and tells the person to shut up and get back to bed
